If you're doing a tea ceremony the day before the wedding, then I say definitely wear the cheongsam that day rather than the wedding. That way you can stay in your wedding dress! I wish I could stay in mine, but I'm wearing a Vietnamese dress for our morning tea ceremony and I'm supposed to change into the cheongsam in the second half of the reception.
If you're doing the tea ceremony the day before then yes wear the cheongsam!
Just an update for this thread. I ended up wearing the cheongsam at our rehearsal dinner. I'm so glad we did it this way! Then I got to wear my wedding dress the entire wedding day-- no changes needed! :)

I have always been a little envious of the Asian and Hindi cultures for their gorgeous wedding attire with such rich colors.
Your cheongsam is just fantastic, and I'm so glad you got to rock both dresses for a full evening!

Hi Asian bees (or anyone else who would like to contribute)!
I'm thinking of wearing a traditional red cheongsam to our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding. Also, I'd like to do a simple tea ceremony that day. Do you think this is weird... to do it the day before the wedding? I just don't want to change out of my wedding dress on the day of (I love that sucka, haha)!
Thanks!
