Fiance and I are picking out invitation styles. I’m finding lots of invitation styles that I like, but they aren’t in our wedding colors (black and gold). One is white with a little green. Is it okay if the invites aren’t the same colors as your wedding colors? Just curious. Thanks!

ours weren’t and no one cared 🙂 we loved them and that was that!

I think they should be. Ours were mostly ivory and black, which were some of our accent colors, but I added purple envelope liners just to bring in our color. The invitation is the first taste your guests will have of the wedding, and it sets the tone.

Our STD, and wedding invites did not match our color scheme when Darling Husband and I were planning our fall wedding. Our color scheme was burgundy and aubergine. Our invites were brown, cream and gold, and our STD’s were brown, orange, and black. No one cared. It was more fun to be different and not have everything match.

I don’t think it matters. No one is going to bring the invite to the wedding, or even really think again about what the invite looked like after they fill out the RSVP card. I would do what you love and not worry about coordinating with your wedding colors. This is one of your last opportunities to not have to match everything too!
