I don't think classified comments should count, because then you might get people commenting on sale items just to make their numbers go up. If I was selling something, I'd only want serious buyers commenting.
I do like the idea of showing counts for sellers though...kind of reminds me of ebay's selling program.
I agree with you miss sushi!
Maybe, Mr. Bee, people can comment to you or someone else at weddinbee on their experience with the seller and you can have a seperate rating attached to that user for classifieds, because I like the idea of being able to know how reliable a seller is.
It doesn't seem like there are that many comments in the Classifieds, just posts. So, if it was a matter of a few posts, no big deal. A few hundred posts, yes, big deal!
I concur- while I do occasionally post advice on the Classifieds (ie if someone is seeking an item and I know she can get it) most of the time it's just buyer inquiries and I don't think those are really like the discussions that go on with the Blog and Boards.
I agree with everyone else, I don't think that the classifieds comments should count since I don't think that additional commenting in the classifieds needs to be encouraged. I like the idea that we'll be able to see if the person posting the item is a regular contributor to the boards. And, I think that the sellers might benefit from seeing if the interested parties are regular contributors as well.
I think classified posts should count toward your post-tally. These sellers/buyers are participating by helping brides find bargains or hard-to-find wedding items.
However, to answer your second question, if you choose not to include them...I don't think it will make for mass confusion. Make it known (when guests register) that these posts are not included.
To spin off of Miss Sushi's comment about "potential buyers" only commenting to max their post counts....
Why not only allow sellers to earn post counts? Those are the ones who are truly helping out the hive by offering used or discounted items.
I don't like that sellers' counts increase. Couldn't you just post a really hard to get item at a great price with vague info and then have to reply to a thousand posts about your item?
I don't think classified postings should count. It's a nice feature of this website, but I think the point is building the community.
I don't think that posting classifieds should count towards your level, totally on the same page as Sushi :)
I agree with the others that classifieds postings should NOT count towards post tallys.
I was wondering, though, if there was a way to tie WeddingbeePRO counts in with Weddingbee counts?
Thanks!
Yeah, I think that it should count. I think that I would trust someone a littl bit better if I knew that they where not new to the site.
1. No, I don't think posting to the Classifieds should count towards our post count/bee level.
2. I don't think people with get confused.
I like that it will show on the classifieds because it will be like an ebay system to see people who can be trusted, but posting something for sale isn't a "real" post, in my opinion.
Ok, thanks to everyone for your feedback! It looks like the feedback is overwhelming to show the Post Counts... but to *not* have Classifieds posts or comments count towards Bee Levels (the vote was 9-2!).
As for having Weddingbee PRO comments count towards Weddingbee Post Counts... we'll see what we can do. It's not easy to pull off, b/c they're entirely separate domains. But we'd like to have more integration between PRO and Weddingbee, so we'll definitely look into it!
I definitely agree that the posts should be shown but not count. Great way to know who's a serious buyer and who's not. :)

Right now, posting to Classifieds *does not* increase your Post Count or contribute to your Bee Level.
That said, we're going to start *showing* Post Counts and Bee Levels on Classifieds... wouldn't you trust a seller more if you knew they had posted 500 times to the Boards?
But I wonder if people would then wonder,"Why doesn't my Post count increase when I post to the classifieds?"
Right now, they don't... although we could change that. The thinking is that posting to Boards is contributing to the community. But posting to Classifieds is something you do mostly for yourself. Also, a lot of the comments on Classifieds say things like, "I'm interested! Email me at ____." It seems a weird to count that towards a Post Count.
But I thought we'd ask the hive for input:
