Should the lace on a mantilla veil be the same lace pattern as dress?

I have some lace on my wedding dress and I plan on wearing a mantilla veil.  The lace on the veil will have the same flowery pattern as the lace of my dress but it's definitely not the SAME lace.  Does that matter?  Will that look bad?

My first thought is yes, but depending on the lace, it could work if it was different. Do you have any pictures of the two laces? I think that if they are similar to each other, it should look okay.

Hmmm sure, in theory, but I'm not sure people will be looking hard enough to tell. Maybe if it's similar?

I don't have any pictures :(  But the lace on the veil and the lace on the dress both have the flowery design and a scalloped edge.  Maybe that will be close enough?

That might work. I am having the same issue. I am trying to find re-embroidered lace; also know as Alencon lace to match my gown, so I can make a veil to match. I need it with pearls only. The only matching lace that I can find comes with either both pearls and sequins or without either. I am thinking about just getting the one that doesn't have anything on it except the design.

The other option that I have found is a similar lace fabric that has smaller flowers in the same style. The next time I go visit my gown, I am going to take some of the lace with me to see what it looks like up against it.

If you can get a picture of your gown and a picture of your lace, you can load them to your computer and put them side by side to see if you think they would work together or not.
