- Wedding: October 2012
My last post worked out so well so I thought I’d ask another question!
I’m getting married next month and our venue is a dry-hire. We have a caterer who is just providing the savory food and it will be a “family style” meal for 120 (ie: sharing plates – like tapas, but not Spanish). We do have waiters and waitresses, though, and the meal will still be fairly formal.
The wedding breakfast begins at 4:30pm and I am planning for it to end at 6:30. At 7pm, we have evening guests coming. I was going to have a table with a dessert and cheese buffet with port then.
I have two questions:
One: If I’m serving buffet-style dessert cakes and cheese table, do I need to give people a dessert after their main meal? Will it feel odd to go straight from the savory food to coffee?
Two: Or, would I be better to just serve a dessert after the wedding breakfast and then only have a cheese and port buffet table at 7 when the evening guests come?
If you were a guest, what would you prefer?
Any advice would be wonderful!
