The fiance and I are debating about whether to rent a dance floor and we’re deadlocked! I’m hoping the hive can help…
Here’s the situation – we are getting married outside at a pavilion with a stamped concrete floor. You can sort of see the floor here (scroll down to “slingerland pavilion”): http://www.cdymca.org/locations/CampChingachgook/AboutChingachgook/OurFacilities.aspx
We did not even consider renting a dance floor because it is a (mostly) flat surface – and I think its a beautiful floor. A few days ago, though, our dance instructor mentioned that we might want to rent a dance floor because (1) my dress may catch on the concrete and (2) the little divits between the concrete “slabs” might make it difficult to dance in heels.
This is something I never considered and, honestly, I don’t think would be a big problem. My fiance, though, is really nervous about this being an issue and wants to spend the $400-$500 on a dance floor. We really don’t have that money in our budget but he feels like, if we don’t rent the floor, then we’re wasting money on taking dance lessons because I’ll be tripping in heels. I think it will be fine (especially because I am, for the most part, dancing on the balls of my feet).
What do you all think? Should we rent the floor? Can we just use the stamped concrete? Anyone have any problems dancing on stamped concrete? Thanks hive!
