Just a thought that popped into my head while looking at ring sets – I get that if you have a shaped band or two bands then this point is moot, but when your rings sit flush, is there a specific order that is preferable?
My e-ring is twisted into a peculiar shape, and I’ve been looking for shaped wedding bands that would go with it – the only problem is that the band would have to go at the base of my finger, and the e-ring closer to the tip. I’m not really sure if that seems strange or not, and I realised I have no idea if there’s even meant to be an order!
So tell me, does your e-ring sit at the base of your finger, or on top of your wedding band? Do you think that there’s a certain order that looks better, or perhaps you know of a tradition for why it should be a certain way?

Actually, yes, there is an order. Obviously it doesn’t have to be followed, but they say that your wedding band should be at the base of your finger so it sits closest to your heart.

Traditionally, the wedding band is on the inside (closest to the heart). That’s what I’ll be doing.

I wear my Wband closest to my heart.

I do what all the bees above me do.

I’ll be wearing mine on the bottom, mostly because that’s what I’ve always seen, but also because my band will be thin and my ring will be heavier, which seems like it makes sense to be on top?

Ditto. I’ve always heard of wearing the wedding band on the inside.

+1 to all the PP’s. my wedding band is at the base of my finger closest to my heart and my e-ring is on the side closest to the tip of my finger.

@TopazTurtle: At the Jewelers I was told that the band should also be worn in the inside closest to your heart. I didn’t Know that. I always wore it on the outside. But when she said that to me I switched it and it actually looks nicer to me anyway. 🙂

Ditto to everyone else. I tried it the other way to see if i liked the look better and in my case it didnt sit as well on my finger. So the band closest to my heart (the traditional way) is the way im going to keep it. But obviously you could wear it however you like.
