It is one of the biggest us “pay for it yourself” brides face…how to come up with the money you need for your dream wedding and still continue to live life. By this I mean, when saving as much as you can it leaves little to go out and “play” with. I have been sitting here wondering how to make my wedding as nice as possible without going over board and it’s hard.
Since I have found The Hive I have realized that there are so many options out there and it’s making my head spin. I want to do everything that everyone on here has mentioned they were planning on doing. I want a photo booth, I want to create my own signs, I was to decorate the entire venue and I want and I want and I want.
Don’t get me wrong, we are doing pretty well with saving and still “living” but I get frustrated when I think “there’s not that much to purchase” and then realize…well that’s not true. It’s the little things. I have always been told not to stress about the little things but this is our day and in 20 years all you’ll remember is the fun you have and the love you share but it is so hard not to focus on every little detail.
We have already paid for the down payments. My dress is already purchased and we have purchased some little things, here and there. Like I said before, I won’t hold it against you if you forgot, we are making wine for our reception and our favors and we have now purchased everything we need for those. So, for the most part, the favors are done.
The venue we chose provides an arch and I don’t believe it can be taken up (I never WANTED an arch, though I don’t mind it). Since it’s there, however, I have to decorate it. I am not much a flower person and really don’t want to hire a florist and I don’t want to necessarily decorate it with flowers. I have looked into some fabric and maybe some hanging charms in my colors (black and pink) or maybe even some pretty garland that I can buy at Michaels but I really don’t know what I want to do with it.
Then I realize, well there are also alterations and decorations for the venue itself (it is a 200 year old in with a fireplace and everyone decorates the mantle). Then I think…I need accessories and undergarments and a hotel room and a rehearsal dinner and a honeymoon and and and….
Needless to say, I am overwhelmed. I have over a year and I am already feeling like there is SO much to do. HELP!
What helped you get over this fear of having too much to do? Forget something? How did you save money?
Our wine will be our favors but we want to have something else for people who don’t drink wine…do you have any suggestions?
