Baskets? Boxes? Pomanders? Bouquets? Something else?
I’m not sure what I want my flower girl to hold and I haven’t even decided if I want her to sprinkle petals or not. I’d love to see some ideas of what you all are using. DIY baskets? Something else that’s creative or different? Let me see em.
I was thinking maybe a silver bucket with ribbon

Our flower girl was 8, and I felt like it she was a bit old to do the basket & petals thing. I ended up getting her a small bouquet of light green carnations to match her dress. She also walked down the aisle with her older brother (best man) so it was good for her to have a free hand!

@Brianalaura: That’s cute! Yea, at 8 she’s almost like a Jr BM. Mine will have just turned 5 so she cold do the petals I guess I’m just not sure I like the idea.
@runsyellowlites: very nice! almost looks like a wedding take out box, which would be a super cute idea too. I know they sell those ifn different colors as well.

@kala_way: Yeah, I wasn’t a big fan of the petal throwing idea in general. My sister-in-law was gung ho for it and kept talking about it. I was worried she’d be upset when she found out, so I didn’t tell her until the day that she had a bouquet. I’ve always thought the ‘Here Comes the Bride’ signs are really cute, but my flower girl walked near the start (we didn’t want her walking alone because she is shy and we were worried she’d freak out).

Mine threw petals but did so out of a antique watering can : )

@Brianalaura: I have an older flower girl, too! She’s nine. I love the little bouquet idea. Seems more mature than petals for an older girl.

My flower girl will be holding this little pretty with an LED tealight candle. 🙂
We’re also going to do an antique finish on this lantern. Sort of like a cracked/antique pewter finish…

I have two flower girls and they’ll both be holding pomander balls!

I made my flower girl baket from scratch out of cardboard, scrap fabric from my DIY purse, some wire, and some pearl beads. I can’t wait for her to carry it down the aisle! The rose petals are fake, btw, but they match our color scheme perfectly. Oh, and our flower girl is 6.

The picture is a little hard to see because this is an amature photo but you can see a little. I got the baskets at hobby lobby and added some ribbon and bows to them and they turned out really nice.

You can also do a flower girl wand … look it up on etsy.com and you’ll see a bunch.
We had “ring princess” instead of a flower girl/ring bearer. She carried a starfish wand (DIY). The rings were tied to the ribbons (they were placed on the starfish only for the photo):
