My dress is now discontinued. For my hair, I went with flowers (a ranunculus and craspidia).

Here is my dress and me in a long veil - I think the long veil gets lost in the dress so will be wearing a shorter veil (fingertip) for the ceremony and then possibly these hair flowers for the reception

And this is how my hair will look from the back
This is my dress (wedding this coming weekend)....
And I'll be wearing this hair comb (no veil and hair won't be so sloppy)...
I turned 40 this past March, but I have to say - I'm not sure there is an "age appropriate" wedding gown. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful and special regardless of your age!
I dont know if its age appropriate but I love this dress!
I am wearing a hair flower and a ponytail...
@qtinthebeach: You are absolutely GORGEOUS in your dress which makes it BEYOND age appropriate - WOW!
Hoping some of the younger bees see this and realize 40 is not a death sentence LOL
@unixfairy: thank you! it is nice to hear!!! my younger hubby will love this too
@sunshine4: my dress will be a take on this and i have a tiara i won on ebay undecided on a veil at the moment.
lolly
Wow I'm not 40+ but can I just say that you ladies do not look 40+??
You seriously look like thirty, maybe.
this is my dress and I am wearing a crystal comb that I am having made right now. I'm just tucking it in the side of my hair. I'm not wearing a veil either. Oh Ill also stick up a shot of my hair do inspiration too. I'm having a beach wedding.
@Oneeleven: That hair inspiration pic is in my folder for an updo too! It's perfect for a beach wedding :)
I dont understand. I will be 41 when I get married, for the very first time. Why do people think that I should wear something different just because I am older?? Is that to say that I casn't have my ball gown because I am over a certain age?
@Mommyhope: You don't need to pick something different because of your age. There are plenty of other posts with 'older' brides wearing a ballgown. I think the point of posts similar to this one ends up being.....there isn't any such thing as 'age appropriate' in regards to dress or accessories....the brides that post have a variety of silhouettes, styles, fabrics and accessories. Don't worry, you will look beautiful in your ballgown! :)
@milesbella: Beauitful dress. Hope your day went well, looking forward to seeing your recaps.
I'm not 40+ but I felt like it in this dress, if you get what I mean and I don't mean to cause anyone offense. To elaborate, I felt too conservative in it.
This is my special baby (love it). I am 49 and FI is 61. I almost went with a cocktail dress in a soft grey color and people said why aren't you wearing a wedding dress? So I decided, yeah why not!!!! My FI and I take really good care of ourselves. We are very active and eat well so why should I have to do "age appropriate". I have to say my wedding dress is a size 6 - Not bad for an almost 50 year old lady!! Each and everyone of you ladies look stunning in your wedding dresses. I loved being in my 20's but I love my 40's every bit as much! Look out fifty here I come, keep up with me if you can !!
this is my hair inspiration and my makeup trial ...
Sorry the pictures are so big. Computer(un) saavyness is where my age really shows. LOL.
Age appropriate... is whatever makes you feel beautiful. Thank goodness I still feel 18 (though my oldest son is older than that) and I can't remember how old I am
. That means my dress had to be age appropriate.

At first, I was very reluctant to wear a "bridal gown" as I will be 46 when we get married and I was married for 23 yrs the 1st time. I was feeling like I should go with a fancy skirt suit or something understated but then I talked with a woman in her late 50's that I really respect and she changed my mind. She said she went with a "big white dress, veil, and the whole 9 yards Girl bc I wanted to wear what made me feel beautiful!". So I went looking and the DB consultant was picking big pouffy white dresses that just werent right. One diamond white dress with gold threading made me feel like middle aged Barbie. lol But a few months later, I went back to DB with someone else for her dress and I saw "my dress" on a mannequin and just knew that was the dress for me. Everyone that has seen it says it is the right choice for me.
I got married in May 2011. I was a first time bride at the age of 57. I wasnt' going to wear a wedding dress...however all my friends said you have never been married so why not! I picked a simple and elegant silk taffeta dress....Jenny lee 503. I was so glad that I went with a wedding dress. Then..I decided I wanted to wear a veil and I did! I love my dress...but in retrospect might have gone with something I little more fancy.
@Oneeleven: OOOH I almost bought this dress in May when we were going to have just our parents there and make it official. Since we've decided to go the super traditional route and have a big blow out ceremony/reception. But I am still secretly in love with this dress :))) just gorgeous.
Hi everyone and congrats on your special day. I am 41 and here are my choices:

So far this is my 1st choice...however it is a bit pricey and I am still deciding

Lazaro 3006...This looks beautiful on and it is not too girlish.
Lazaro 3101
I am 47 and I am sewing my own dress. Here is a sample from the internet:
But instead of burgundy, it'll be lavender

And here is my necklace! Not bad for $2.99? I'll have to polish it.
I am 45 and this is my dress. I am getting married on the beach so I am not sure whether I will wear a veil. If I do it will be a comb far back and I will probably have some hair pulled back with a little "wedding pouf" going on in my hair. I feel and look as good as I did 10 years or more ago so why not rock it out?

Ordered this dress in ivory. I wear a 16-18 normally. Dress just came in (I saw it online but ordered it locally) but I haven't been able to try it on yet. This is for a Bahamas beach wedding for this July. I'm 52 and this will be my 3rd marriage. Very casual wedding-just a few friends on the beach then a sunset champagne cruise and a night of partying :)
