SellyJo: Felt the exact same thing, I wanted a pretty dress of course, but there was just no way I could motivate a high price tag. I ended up getting this Oleg Cassini dress (this is me trying it at Davids Bridal):

It was $900 (with tax) in Canada, but only $675 (with tax) in the US. So I placed the order on the other side of the boarder and then we made a fun little road trip down to get it. It wasn’t a bargain really, but I felt happy that I didn’t have to pay the full Canadian price and it was a cost I could live with.

I had a budget of $1500-2500 (CND) in my head when I was dress shopping.

I went to a store that had Allure dresses and showed them what I wanted. They didn’t have the exact dress, but something similar that was discontinued so they were selling the sample for $499! If you want a designer dress, see if any bridal store are selling sample dresses that have been discontinued. It was altered for me and dry cleaned before I picked it up.

SellyJo:  That was about my max too and I was able to get a custom gown from Dolly Couture. Not everyone’s style but it was exactly what I wanted. The dress itself was around $650, plus another $50ish for the petticoat, and a somewhere around $125-$150 for alterations.

BeckyS0:  Love this!

Here is mine.  I think it was about $700 USD.  Sorry for the terrible pic.  My 6 year old snapped it before I took in back to the bridal store to be steamed.

My dress was $500. I bought it used off preownedweddingdresses.com.  Best decision!

I got mine at The Brides Project in Ann Arbor, MI (a bridal shop that has donated dresses, pre-worn or bridal shop oversock, proceeds to go cancer research), for about $375 before alterations. I’m changing the strap to purple, but I’m absolutely in love with the dress. Consider organizations like these!!

i paid $499 for the dress and $150 for the sash! A sash was already included in the $499 but I felt since I was already cheap enough I could spruce it up with a more blinded out belt 🙂

Liverpoolbride:  gorgeous dress! I love the flowy skirt.

SellyJo:  my MOH got the wedding dress of her dreams as a sample for £600 – full price it would be £1600. Also, monsoon and bhs have some gorgeous wedding dresses at the moment!
