@sjones-- That is a really cool idea. have you found the wooden trunk yet?
i actually found my inspriation on here in the diy section - don't remember who posted it but here's their blog site with the card box:
Here's the one I made for my BFF's wedding! I just used boxes from work and extra material from our BM dresses!
im sorry - gonna sound like a idiot
what is a card box and do i need one?
This was my inspiration... I think it will only be one box instead of 2 stacked.
ooooooooooooooooooh. caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaards. i get it.
im havin a jewish wedding (FI is jewish, im whatever) and i was told that the groom and best man have to hold them all. can anyone tell me if thats right?
if not, do i need one of these??
@phish: usually people will give it to the fathers, and they either hold onto it all or put it in the safe in the bridal suite. Jewish weddings don't have card boxes
The hall we are using has this large "wishing well" thing. It's not pretty, but it will be in the corner of the room on the gift table. Just one more thing I dind't have to worry about.. It's white, it will blend in.
thanks marlew! glad i dont have to figure out another DIY project. phew!
@marlew - really?? Jewish weddings don't have cardboxes? I've never heard of this. I still plan on putting out a cardbox.
OK so here's my DIY card box cost about $8.00
needs another coat of paint
just wanted something simple tha could be locked so no one would have to babysit it
yeah, ive been to many jewish weddings as well with no card box, but ive never really looked for one. We asked my FI's mom and she said no way to card boxes as they arent tradition. cards in the jacket pocket is supposedly the way to go.
we had a jewish wedding and we had a card box. no way did i want to make my husband or his bm be responsible for all of our money! especially when they were so busy with the wedding. nor would all of those cards fit in their pocket... i think we got like 4 gifts and the rest cards.
can i just put them down the front of my dress? i dont wanna make a box!!
@meno- I am thinking about doing a picnic basket, I've been trying to find one that isn't too expensive

Hi ladies--
I am trying to figure out one of my last DIY projects-- my card box. I don't know what I want to do and am looking to the hive for some inspiration! My wedding has a rustic/picnic vibe to it (centerpieces are watering cans filled with sunflowers and metal pails filled with lemons and limes).
Any great ideas or fabulous inspiration? Looking forward to seeing your card boxes!
