I did not put an add in the paper for announcing our wedding, but my husband did propose to me in the newspaper and therefore I made our engagmenet announcement/save the date cards look like a newspaper..

I'm interested in this too! I need to do our announcement soon... we've been engaged since October!
My parents submitted our engagement announcement only a couple of weeks after we were engaged so we had to use a picture from the day of proposal. My FI actually had someone with a powerful zoom lens capture the entire proposal and I we had many photos taken at our surprise engagement party the same day. But even with all the pictures taken the day of, the self shot we took right after it happened was my favorite!
If we DID have our choice of pro e-pics to choose from, I probably wouldve used the second pic. Not too formal or mushy, just right.
This is the picture we used in the papers. I was going to do a different one for each but everyone wanted this to be in their town's paper so I just gave in and used the one instead.
