This is a set I wear when I am working out or camping and do not want to wear my diamonds.

Not the greatest picture but you get the idea! My engagement ring is a 1/2 ct. tw semi-eternity band with certified round diamonds. It was what I wanted – I don’t really wear jewelry, I’m a jeans and t-shirt sorta girl and couldn’t imagine myself wearing a big ‘ole rock every day. I go back and forth between wanting a plain band for a wedding band or a different style band with diamonds. The nice thing about going this route is that it’s versatile!

sublimestars:  hi! I love your ring, its pretty much exactly what i wanted as an ering. Im always in jeans and tees too but ended up going a bit more traditional when we picked out a ring. Only put a deposit on it tho so a few more months before its acc on my finger! Wanted to ask tho, how did people react to your ring? I was a bit worried about getting a band, tho it is gorgeous 🙂

rubysoho80:  The reactions get tiring, I’m not going to lie. :/ The most recent comment was from one of FI’s cousins… he said “That’s it? What, is that all she’s worth?” – I set him straight and told him it was what I wanted, but the comments still sting sometimes. I don’t like it when people think my FI is cheap. He could have got me something more elaborate but I cringed at the thought of spending so much money on something I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing every day. I like my ring and I know that’s what matters most… I actually think it’s kind of sad that when people hear you are engaged their first thought isn’t about congratulating you, but instead “Show me the ring!”

sublimestars:  thanks for the honest reply. I know completely what you mean tho, society seems to judge how much your SO loves you by what kindof ring you wear. I have to admit, part of why i got my ring (even tho i finally found one i love) was what people might say. My bf n i have bn together a long time tho n i didnt want to think that people wld talk behind my back, even tho it wld have been my choice. He was willing to spend more than we did but i wldnt have bn happy feeling like i need a bodyguard for my ring lol. Congrats anyway and tbh im impressed you didnt conform! Lol

rubysoho80:  I first started dating my FI 14 years ago and we have a 9 year old son together… honestly I was just so happy that we were both ready to take this next step that I didn’t give much thought about what others would think of the ring! We are practical people and hate having debt of any kind – I just didn’t want to deplete our cushion or have to make payments to have a big diamond. I’d rather get a newer vehicle, lol. Down the road if I feel like I need more bling I would probably get a moissanite… they’re beautiful, so much cheaper and it wouldn’t be something I’d wear every day anyway, plus I can wear it with the bands I will already have. 🙂

I’m glad you found a ring that you love! No matter what kind of ring someone chooses – it’s important that YOU and your SO love it. If other people don’t, F ’em.

sublimestars:  thanks 🙂 and snap! Been with my bf for about 12 years this time and we have two wee boys. I totally agree tho, i think when you’ve got kids its a lot harder to spend money on yourself, esp when its not necessary. And i think bands are just as nice, your ring is beautiful 🙂
