I get gel manicures but not the extensions, I like to keep my nails short. Have you tried taking a multi vitamin or biotin? My nails grow fast and strong since I’ve started.

I have gel nails, but not the no chip manicure. When I first got mine, I got a new set with white tips and gel over top. I go every few weeks to get them balanced. My nails grow pretty fast, which I never would have known till I started getting them done. I used to bite them so far down and if I did try to grow them out, they would just tear. If you did the gel nails, you might find your nails grow fast.

It can sometimes seem like a lot to go get my nails done every few weeks, but I work with the public(marriage licensing!) and I want to have a good appearance, especially with my nails since I have to point things out to each couple.

I got shellac (the day before my weddng). it’s been two weeks and no chips! The ends are a little worn, but my nails are now longer than they’ve ever been and still strong. Love it!

@iheartnerds:  I had gel nail extensions for our big day.  I would recommend that you get them about 2-3 weeks prior to get used to them if you’ve never had them before.  Then, have them fixed up (or redone completely) a day or two before your wedding day.  I really loved mine (as they lasted a long time), but they were a bit long for my liking.  Here’s a pic:

@iheartnerds:Everyone told me to do mine 2 weeks ahead, too, but I waited till the day before. Still worked out. 🙂

@iheartnerds: I know it sounds weird but have you tried rubbing Olive Oil into them daily? Also if you put nail polish on use a base coat and a top coat ^^

I have pretty strong nails so i’ve never used Gel nails, but i use Olive Oil so hopefully it’ll work for you 🙂

@iheartnerds:

i too have been a life long biter….oooooh  i love it!

but since getting my E ring on my finger i have begun growing them,  and funnily enough i dont even feel the urge to bite them any more…..they are just so horrible arnt they when they are all short and raggy….

I dont want really long nails because i have never been used to that….and i think i would snag them, leading to a little biting session…..

all i wear on mine is clear nail polish,  and for my wedding day i just want french manicure….like oneelevens above…..

but this is my SECOND  time around for growing them out,  the first time, i found that they were very weak,  and 2 broke,   so i chewed the other 8 !    this time i have found they are growing through stronger……my little fingernails are still short though,  but i am proud of what they look like right now…..

rather than putting hardner on your nails,  would oils be better?   i wonder if hardner is making them brittle and thats why they are breaking?  if you moisturise them they wouldnt break so easily….maybe?

When I was in nursing school I read a medical paper on nail growth in a Dermatology journal…I just tried finding it but can’t >.< It talked a lot about taking biotin, consuming enough complete protein, and even getting enough sunshine (vitamin D baby!) It also said that a full finger nail takes 6-7 months to grow and a toenail takes 10! I wish I could find the paper…it was really neat haha.
