Here’s some photos from our house we bought in March.  It’s obviously all furnished and decorated now but the only photos on this computer are from when it was empty.  Maybe I should get some new ones!

I don’t have any great great photos YET, since we’ve just moved in and now with all of my stuff the place is a nightmare, but here are a couple of photos!!!  I loooove our new house!  (It was built in 1925, and is quite small, but awesome.  2 beds, 1 bath.  Wisteria growing on the front there.  And so far we’ve painted, replaced the roof, and refinished / replaced some of the hardwood floors)

From the front:

From the side:

The fireplace and walls we painted (with the new floor installed!):

And finally, the beautiful refinished floors…  I am so in love with them:

ETA: your houses look GINORMOUS in comparison!  But also awesome!  Hooray for brick houses!

We are tentatively house-shopping.  We aren’t quite ready, but my parents think we should start looking at houses to get a feel for what we like/don’t like.  They have come with us to the first two showings, so I have a sneaking suspicion that if we found the right place, they would help us with the down payment, which is basically our issue.

How many houses did you look at before you found “the one”?  DH and I made a bet.  He thinks 12 and I think 50.  LOL

@SarahSmilesDec28:  We looked at over 50, probably over 75.  We also spent about 5 months looking!  The first couple of months we weren’t looking too seriously, just trying to get an idea, but we definitely spent over 2 months going to open houses every weekend, and had our realtor take us out at least once in the middle of each week.  BUT, you could find the right house right off the bat!  It really depends on inventory and what you want.

In our price range, the market started to heat up right when we got serious, so there weren’t tons of houses available, and they got snatched up so quickly you had to really be on top of it.  Your housing market is probably different!

It does help, though, to see as many houses as possible to determine what is a MUST HAVE and what is just a luxury.  For us, we decided we didn’t need a garage if we had a basement, but we absolutely had to have forced air.

@SarahSmilesDec28:  50-60 houses total. We were very picky and wanted our first house to be our forever house.

@Mrs Hedgehog:  Thanks! We waited a LOOONG 7 months for it! We built from the ground up and had a few problems (limestone and granite being the biggest of them). Here’s a thread I started shortly after we started building with some progressive pictures, and a few of the inside before they carpeted
