Have you checked out http://www.houzz.com/ ? Tons of great pictures on there and you can search by room and by floor type.

Congrats on the house!

We just redid our whole condo.

We chose a medium brown to avoid the trend swings from very dark to very light.

Our dark laminate floors, gray walls and dark furniture.  We just got out furniture yesterday, so we haven’t had much time to arrange everything.

I have Maple hardwood thoughout my primary house, which is more of a medium tone. The bedrooms, hallways and stairs were already that color, so when we did them in the LR,DR and FR, we obviously had to match them.

In our beach house, the previous owners put in a light colored laminate, which is very different, and sounds ‘hollow’ to me. It fits the style and is easy to care for which makes me happy, and is throughout the entire house.

I’d also stick with a more medium tone. Its much easier to decorate with,I think.

@BreezyBride24:  Glad you like it. I am thoroughly addicted! And the ideabooks features makes it really easy to organize ideas. Enjoy!

We chose a medium brown stain when we refinished our red oak hardwoods.  I wanted to go dark but DH wanted to be able to see the grain.  I’m so glad we went medium.  From what I understand, dark shows every piece of dirt.  Our medium color has character and is easy to care for.

Our floors are a dark brown.  I don’t know if you have dogs, but after we put them in, I read that darker hardwood floors show dirt more.  I find this to be true with dog hair.  Just something to thing about.

These aren’t our floors, it’s the model version of the house we’re building 🙂 We opted to go exactly the opposite and get dark floors…but maybe this will help you! They’re an engineered hardwood.

These are the natural floors in our house.  They are original.  Sorry I’m using photos I already uploaded to the bee,

With furniture:

We didnt have a choice in color shade.  I do love the way the sun reflects off my lighter floors though, really brightens up the space in the day.

ETA:  My mom has light laminate in her house (was there when she purchased).  But I am not a fan.   She likes how easy it is to clean, but since she had natural wood in her last house, she doesn;t like laminate especially light shades.

I had our wood floors installed throughout the house, including the kitchen, living room and dining area.
