I’m am looking into doing a lantern centerpiece as a classy, less expensive alternative to flowers.
My wedding colors are navy blue, bright orange, ivory, and burlap. Bridesmaids in navy blue with tiger lily bouquets, my bouquet I am thinking ivory roses with tigerlilies. Simple but a big pop of color!
I am thinking a burlap runner with ivory lace overlay on ivory tableclothes. I’m not sure if I will put a mirror in the middle or just put the lantern right on the runner. And then I am thinking votive candles around the lantern to fill out the center.
Any ideas for what color lantern I should I get? I think white will be too much white on white, so I am really unsure what color or metal type to go with for the lantern.
Would love any photos/advice! Thank you bees!
ETA: elegant, rustic theme wedding. Also a Jewish wedding.

I would do black lanterns
Ikea has similar lanterns to this at very reasonable prices. You could use an orange candle and place one tiger lily in a florist tube at the base of the candle.
Another option is to place the flower on top of the lantern
I also think your centerpieces would be stunning if you spray painted the lanterns navy blue.
Or use an old fashioned kerosene style lantern with a tiger lily at the base

We bought these lanterns from Z Gallerie… not sure if they still have them… but added our own little touches! There is moss and lights inside which we lit in the evening 🙂 Simple for our outdoor wedding!

We used white lanterns on ivory table linens (picture below is of the edge of our sweetheart table). We had debated a while also about the color lanterns and if it would blend in too much with the ivory cloth, but with the lanterns lit up I think they turned out nice. On the guests table we had used a set of 3 different lanterns and sprinkled bright pink petals on the bottom just for some color.
If you’re using a burlap runner, that would provide a contrast if you’re worried about too much white. Hope this helps!

We are using the Ikea black lanterns as well! We are planning on putting just a white candle and then putting bud vases around with flowers. Here’s my inspiration!

@nawella: Can’t wait to have an actual picture of our wedding with these lanterns!! I just picked up mason jars from AC Moore last night, to use in place of the bud vases for flowers [FYI they are only $.88 a piece! I picked up 14 pint sized and 4 quart sized! woohoo! 🙂 ]

This is the mock up for ours. The lanterns were originally black. I think you could easily paint ones navy to go with your colors. We are going to have orange alstromeria in the mason jar

We had alternating centerpieces. On half of the tables we had wildflowers in a galvanized bucket with a burlap bow and two moss filled candles and in the other half we had lanterns from Pier1 with wildflowers in bud vases and a wooden crate with apples.
