I’m thinking I want to do lantern centerpieces with candles inside, and depending on costs do a few very small vases with single stems of my wedding flowers around the lantern
Anyone out there use lanterns? How tall were they? Were you able find affordable lanterns?
Show me your lantern centerpieces!

I purchased lanterns for our tables. We have long tables (12ft) so we’re doing a large lantern in the centre, two smaller lanterns on either side of the table.
Between the lanterns we’re doing floral arrangements and then lots of candles throughout the table.
Here are the lanterns we bought:
We got ours from Pier 1. The large ones were $15 and the small ones were around $10 each. I plan to resell them when we’re done.

We did hanging lanterns, and got them at a really decent price, too. We are using flameless candles though because I am a bit nervous about real candles in hanging lanterns!

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
Here is what I have purchased recently.
This is going to be our card box.
These are the centerpieces I have purchased so far. I want the majority of the centerpieces to be a different lantern than on another table, but if they double up I’m not too concerned. I have a long ways to go though. I need about 40 lanterns. But I also have over a year to get all of these. It also helps I got all of these at my works gift shop and can use payroll deduct , so I don’t get stressed about how to pay for all of this.
ETA: I should mention that the pictures of the lanterns for the tables where taken while I was in the gift shop, so any items in the lanterns were not purchased nor going to be part of my wedding lol.

@futuremrs1986: Several of the images posted by pp is this lantern from IKEA. It’s $19.99 and we have four of these in our cottage hanging from beams, the light is great and they look so pretty! They are also available in a smaller version that’s just $9.99. IKEA has a number of other options as well, some as low as $3.99, so I think it’s worth checking out their stock. I personally consider this one for our wedding, and a little lesson in Swedish – mörkt means dark. 🙂

@bretonvirgniia: Love your laterns! Hey your wedding is before mine, how much are you selling them for? How large are they anyway?
I really want to do laterns, but I haven’t bought anything yet. I was thinking of doing some for the table numbers. Maybe pasting a dark cover with cut out numbers to shine through on each side.
