ohh I'm interested in this as well...
My mother in-law called me and told me she found a dress that is black and has a white top... NOT OKAY! I'm a firm believer that only the bride should be in White (even if someone else's dress has some white in it...)
ALSO I just watched my sister's wedding video (I was 15 when she was married) and MY MOTHER was wearing cream/white!!! Seriously mom?!?!? I have already told her that she will not be wearing cream/white to my wedding! hahah am I crazy??!?!?

I believe all of the MOB/MOG in our wedding got their dresses from chain stores. My mom's (the blue one) came from a Canadian chain store called Laura, and she got it on sale for around $80 I think! Our wedding was outdoors in summer, hence them all wearing short dresses.
Both spent around $150 each.
They're both pretty young and up with the times, and dress adorably IRL so their dresses really reflect that.
My mom's is actually a bridesmaid's dress from DB.

My mom still needs to get some alterations done, and will obviously be wearing a different bra, but here is hers - I love it and think she looks beautiful in it
! MOG will also be wearing an ivory-colored dress. Not worth arguing. I told her it looks beautiful and she can wear whatever she likes.
MOG hasn't chosen her dress yet but my mom is wearing J Crew's Cecelia
The color we chose is rich plum, which is a really pretty purple-wine color. We got it on sale for about $100.
I wore this in quartz for one wedding. It was over $500.
I wore this in the other wedding. It was $650.

Here are the MOG/MOB gowns from our wedding! Please keep in mind that our MOB/MOG spent a bit more money on their gowns because they decided to wear the same gown to our two weddings and another evening reception (married once in the US and had another ceremony and reception in Japan). So, the gowns had to be dry cleaned three times and worn three times.
(Black, white, and crimson color scheme...)
MOB gown was floor length, black chiffon with a natural waist, asymmetric draped bodice and slight sweetheart neckline with chiffon capped sleeves. The gown was custom made and she spent about $500, which included the 7 alteration consultations it took to get the gown right because she lost 15 in the last three months leading up to the wedding.
MOG wore a floor length, black satin faced taffeta, drop waist, pleated bodice, sweetheart neckline, strapless gown with a bejeweled chiffon bolero. (MOG spent about $500 and got her gown online. http://www.bestforbride.com/mothers.html)
My mother will be 85 on February 23rd. I am 40, and have waited forever to get married. I am so happy she is going to be here for our wedding! I posted this once before so my apology for the repeat.
The dress is Adrienne Pappell and I believe is a Tadashi copy. It looks fantastic on many body shapes and ages. It also comes in 10 million colors! :) Check Nordstroms, Macys, etc.

Here is my MOB dress. She got it for $196 after they price matched it to the same price that Dillards was offering it for. She got it at Nordstroms, and she looks FABULOUS in it!
My MIL (aka the MOG) wore a dress from DB that is technically a BM dress but looked gorgeous on her. Not sure exactly what she spent but it's DB so I know it was reasonable.
My mom (aka MOB) wore a dress from a tiny boutique shop in Wabash, IN. She actually spent more on her dress than we spent on my wedding attire but she looked AMAZING, IMO. Totally worth it!

This is the dress my Mom is probably gonna wear. It's from JC Penny and was $60 on sale.

What exactly are you looking for? I think the style she chooses will be based on lots of things such as her age, figure, comfort level, time of wedding,venue,etc. Has she tried anything on yet or are you just looking for some styles to suggest for her?
@smyley: I'm really just looking for styles to suggest! I'd like to compile some different styles so I can narrow down what our Moms will like! I'm close to having an idea for my mom (knee-length cocktail dress type thing), but for my fiance's mom it's proving to be a task!
My Mom made her dress. She is an awesome seamstress and used to make my clothes for me growing up! Our colors were blue and silver. She wanted to wear silver. =) Loved it!
My mom just bought her dress! I absolutely LOVE it on her. Our colors are gray and yellow, and dark blue and purple look great on my mom. She ended up geting a dark blue dress from DB. My twin sister, MOH, is wearing a yellow dress and the men are wearing great tuxedos. The yellow and navy go very well together! I'm so happy for my mom. It makes her look so slim and sophisticated! 
@smyley: I am trying to locate a Cameron Blake 19626. Do you still have this dress?
@meliss: oh my gosh what is the dress for your MOB, I want something very atypical for my mom because she is so not flattered by a lot of the typical "MOB" dresses.
