I had buttercream iced cupcakes and a 6 inch buttercream iced cake for us to cut.

The lady who made our wedding cake has a ton of photos of her cakes at the link below and she does have a number of photos of buttercream cakes.

What is your theme? And what are the flavours you are looking for?

I’ve taken some cake decorating classes for fun. You could do a buttercream cake and it will still look nice. (Look up Chantilly lace piping on YouTube)

My acquaintances did this cake for less than $250 from a local bakery.

In case you wonder what “Chantilly Lace” looks like, here’s a picture of a chocolate ganache cake I decorated. (Please excuse my beginner rose piping skills.)
The squiggles:

The bottom is attempted pearl piping.

Looks like fondant, but its not. It is made with candy clay which (I think) tastes similar to tootsie rolls. Fiance was adamant against fondant.

I am using a company which ices with melted white chocolate. This is the cake I am getting except the flowers on the branches will be yellow not red. It will also have navy blue ribbon around the bottom of each tier and instead of the love hearts it will have fresh yellow flowers.

Fondant tastes icky IMHO.

Buttercream icing no fondant ! Luckily we were acquaintances of the bakery that our venue sources cakes out to so she threw in the bling trim for free.
