We are doing a 2-tier cake for the cake topper, but I am still debating over doing cupcakes or a sheet cake to serve. I love cupcakes, and know that a lot of people who know me would assume I would go this route. But, a sheet cake may just be easier. Cake cutting is included in our venue, so everything would be supplied for what we would need at no additional charge.
So… let me see yours! 🙂

I think most people who do sheet cakes just have plain sheet cakes they put in the back and cut up. Guests don’t see the sheet cake, just the small cake for the cake topper and cutting.
Another route is to have a fake cake, just with one piece of real cake for the cutting. They look absolutely real (you just have to know where to cut it). A family friend did this, and we only knew about it because they told us later. They served up sheet cake in the back.

mgbser: I suppose that makes sense, ha. I was just seeing if anyone had any pics of their sheet cakes, as that will be seen by the guests when it’s served – even if it’s just simply decorated with a flower on each piece. Something like this:

I will be having a sheet cake in the back for our wedding. My baker assured me it would have the same decoration and filling. I’m not sure how but I’m hoping that is true.
