I will be getting a three-stone e-ring and I am not sure how I feel about it. I need some ring porn to help me fall in love with the idea of a three-stone ring, please.
I never pictured myself with a three stone ring, but then FI picked one out for me, and I love it:

For reference, it's 1.5ct tw, with 1ct in the center stone and .25 in each side stone, and my finger is 4.75. I like that when you see it on my finger, all you really see is diamonds. I've opted not to go with a curved band because I want the option to wear the band on its own, so I'm going to have a 5 stone, 1ct tw band (.2 ct each diamond) similar to the one below, but with the band being the same thickness as my e ring:

Gorgeous rings ladies! From the brief glimpse that I got of my e-ring, it actually looks a lot like yours Martinigirl! As stated in a previous post, I'm not supposed to know about that ring yet...i stumble accross it yesterday. Opps. Anyway, thanks for the pictures and keep 'em coming! :)
In case you want to think about wedding bands for your soon to come beautiful ring here is a link to a post I did about my band.
An early congrats to you and hopefully you dont have to wait too much longer to get it!

I love my 3 stone! I had wanted a 3 stone because I love what is stands for, past present future.

Your rings are beautiful ladies!!
We just got engaged at the end of November (on my birthday!!). Here's my ring! We picked it out together and I adore it :)

@Martinigirl: Not to be nosey, but what size ring do you wear and what size stones are those? My SO and I are thinking of going with a 3 stone ring and I am trying to see what they look like on before we start to look, haha. Beautiful rings ladies!
@nursingstudent0115: no problem, I love my ring so I will gladly discuss it! my ring size is 6 -6.5. centre stone is .5 and each side stone is .26. the cut, colour and clarity are very high so the stones look bigger than other average colour and clarity stones of the same size. I had my .5 beside a .75 stone of lower quality and mine looked at least the same size if not a touch bigger. Hope that helps and happy shopping.
Hi!
No problem! Here are the details on my ring:
It is a 3.5ct tw. Center stone is 2.05ct, H color, VS2 clarity, Ideal cut (so it looks super big!!). Side stones are 1.5ct tw. Same color and clarity.
My ring size is a 7 or 7.25. I forget :) Let me know if you have any other questions! I became diamond obsessed on our search for the perfect ring!
Oh! Here's another photo of it :)

@Martinigirl: It looks like we just about are ring twins! :) Except mine is moissy. We both must have men with really good taste!
Here's mine!
All these rings are gorgeous! I can't wait to get my own three-stone sparkler!
Although now I have a question: my BF and I have already talked about the fact that the center stone he's using for my e-ring is his grandmother's original e-ring from the 50s. He asked me if I minded that the stone isn't the best quality (his grandpa bought it for her in the 60 years ago as a young man and this was the best he could afford at the time). Anyway, from the tiny peak I got of the ring, I'm afraid that it might be obvious to the naked eye that the center-stone is actually of lower quality than the side stones. Does this make any sense? Are all the stones in your e-rings of uniform quality? If not, is it glaringly obvious to the untrained eye that one diamond is better than the other one?
After he actually proposes and I get my grubby hands on that ring, I will see for myself if this disparity is obvious but in the meantime, I will enjoy the thought that my boyfriend's grandmother loves me enough to offer her precious original ring for me to use. I am so thankful to have been so blessed to have these people as future in-laws!
Stupid question but what makes the difference between single sidestones (as in one on each side) and a three stone ring?
Here's mine~ Princess cut center stone and two round brilliants!

This is the 3 stone RHR I've been sporting a lot lately, so it's not my engagement ring. It's blue and white sapphires with baguettes that you can't really see in this picture, set in sterling silver. I have no idea what the specs are! I also have a princess cut diamond 3 stone ring, but I don't have the pics at the moment.

@specialsundae- I think the difference is a 3 stone ring has 3 stones of the same cut, like 3 round stones or 3 princess cut stones. But that's just my assumption...
@AllieMallie- Hi! In my ring, all stones are of the same color and clairty, however the cut quality is slightly different. My center stone is ideal cut, which is what will make it sparkle and look bigger than the actual carat weight. My side stones are a slightly lower cut grade- I think they are considered Excellent or Very Good, I forget exactly. Anyway, after staring at my ring for a few months now, I'm starting to be able to see the difference. My sides are not as fiery as my center stone. BUT this is after staring at it for months. I don't think anyone who has looked at it would notice. I think as long as your side stones aren't way way way better than your center stone, the average person will not notice :) I'm sure your ring will be amazing no matter what! Do you mind if I ask what shape diamond it is?
Here is my lovely! It is 0.98tkw. The centre stone is 0.33, the sides are 0.20 and the smaller stones (three on each side and two inside the band) are 0.1 each. It is white gold and size 7.

And the inside...
Past (diamond) Present (diamond) Future

@AllieMallie: My stones are all the same because they are moissy- so they all look identical. I love it because it just sparkles even that much more.
If you're worried about the middle stone "sticking out" too much, have you considered using a different gem on the sides? If you're into color- Blue sapphires, for example, look gorgeous and will draw the good type of focus to the center.
Heres a picture of what I'm talking about :

@bektar -- I believe all three stones are princess cut. The center stone is about .7ct. and the side stones are probably around .5 cts each. But again, this is just what I got from my quick sneakypeak. I did notice though that the side stones seemed to sparkle more than the center stone did. Although this could have very well been just the power of suggestion because my BF did mention during our "hypothetical" ring talk that the side stones would probably be of better quality than the center stone.
@future__schu--That would have been a great idea! Unfortunately, I have no say in teh final ring since it's already here. But hmm...maybe for the upgrade. :)
You all have lovely, lovely rings! Looking at all this ring porn is definitely getting me excited to really wear my own!
@Tessa931-- I love how your e-ring and wedding band look together! I was going to just get a plain wedding band but looking at your set is catching my imagination. :)
I think three stone rings have a lot of seniment behind them. I love what they represent :)
Mine is a three stone - center .6, sides .2 each - 1.5 total
I notice clairty more than color in mine.
I'd just wait until you see it, it might have just been the light that you saw it in. If you don't like the way it looks, there are options. Good luck!
My ring is not your typical diamond style, but it's still a three stone look with tanzanite and two smaller diamonds on the outside:
@AllieMallie I'm excited to hear how yours turns out! Even if the clarity of the center stone is not quite the same, you will have an awesome story to tell people about the ring. :)
@AllieMallie: My diamonds are all the same clarity but the center stone is color F, the side stones are color H. I can't tell a difference. Here's another picture.

@takemyhand: We have the same ring!!! At first I wasn't sold on the hearts setting but it's really grown on me and now I love it. I still find myself staring at my e-ring sometimes almost a year later :)
Mine is my profile pic (small, I know, but I've never been able to get a good picture of it myself).
@AllieMallie: I think all the stones in my ring are almost exactly the same except for the size. If your BF takes the ring to a jeweler and tells them he wants to use the center stone he already has, they should work with him to find stones that won't overpower it. I had the same question about the stones I wanted to use for my band, since 4 of the 5 came from my grandmother, and they're near-flawless, colorless diamonds. Turns out they'll be just fine up against the diamonds in my e-ring, since they're high-quality too, but I knew if the diamonds for the band would overpower the diamonds in my e-ring I'd end up having my grandmom's diamonds set in a RHR or something.
Mine is a custom made, stunner. :)
Delicate and oh so feminine.

and here is her lovely counter part <3 sorry if it's blurrrrrry (cellular phone photo)

I looove my 3 stoner :) I totally thought that I wanted a micro-pave halo setting, but when I tried those on they just looked too busy on my finger. Then we tried this one, and both fell in love:
Photo from their website - 3-stone engagement ring, featuring a Birks round brilliant cut with two pear diamond on the side.

And in real life, on my finger, using an iPhone. The centre stone is .53 and the sides are .11 each (.75 TCW). We loved how thin and delicate the band was, and the proportions are beautiful (IMO).

@Lilubird: I absolutely ADORE your ring!! I like how the smaller side stones let the centre stone really shine. That's the only thing I don't *love* about mine, I wish the side stones were a little smaller so they don't all kind of blur together when looking at it ;)

I love mine! DH was adament about me getting a three stone, and when I tried on a solitaire of the same size I liked how the 3-stone looked better, so we went with it! To all you ladies.. how do you know the exact carat sizes and color/cut/clarity? From helping choose the ring or what? I know mine is 2 t.c.w but have no clue any of the other "stats!"
ETA: Okay I tried to make my pics small so they didnt overload the page but now they're too small to even see =[
@LoveMySailor1018: I only found out the ring details last night as I found the paperwork from the jeweler. We did try on the ring about 8 months ago, when we were looking at rings, but I had no idea about its details until yesterday.
ETA I love everyone's rings on here. They're so lovely and look great on everyone's fingers. Yay 3-stoners! lol
