Working for a lighting and events company, I absolutely recommend amber….it looks fabulous! Here are a few from my venue (my colors where emerald and gold):

crackktheskyy:  Amber for SURE adds warmth, as long as you don’t stray into “yellow” and more into tans.  It’s a really rich look.  I LOVE your venue’s lighting – those light fixtures with the mesh surrounding it are just beautiful!  Once the party starts, depending on the lights, they can be set to change colors subtley so that it doesn’t look like a 70’s disco…the things they do with lighting now is just incredible – and I LOVE that you’re getting pin spots!  They seriously turn a table totally around – and you pay so much for the dang centerpieces you want them showed off!  Consider a pin spot for your cake too!

crackktheskyy:  As long as your adding a RED to the yellow or an ORANGE to the yellow, you’ll be good (a green tone gives it that fluorescent-y yellow look).  Amber is in and of itself a perfect “neutral”.  Trust the company you’re doing the uplighting with, they’ll know what you’re going for and what you’re NOT going for.

With our company, we keep the color scheme the customer wants through dinner/toasts, etc. When the party/dancing gets started, the uplights that were programmed start to change to EVERY color (slowly!) to create a festive atmosphere.  Depending on what kind of lights the company is using, I bet they coulde do the same thing!  Just some ideas…..:) And well done with the pin spots!
