We had cupcakes!  We also had a lunch wedding, so it wasn’t stuffy-formal.  I knew there was no way I’d be able to only pick a few flavors, so we went with this small, local, family-owned bakery and they did an AMAZING job.  I think we ended up with 6 different flavors.  People raved about them.  We did still have a small cake for the cutting (and in case anyone didn’t want a cupcake… I think there were like 2 people haha)

Cupcakes were great for that reason!  No plates, no silverware, no dealing with having to cut and serve a cake…  We had 6 or 7 flavors with all different colors of frosting etc, plus a round cake that we cut.  We had a colorful and rustic wedding, so we served the cupcakes on several wooden stands and it all seemed to tie in together just fine.

@LeSpice:  By the by, they always have at least one gluten free and one vegan option at this particular bakery 🙂  YUM FOR EVERYONE!

We had cupcakes, mini banana pudding shots (DH’s favorite dessert), and a small cake for cutting. I didn’t want the cupcakes to match our colors, so they are simply decorated like the bakery usually decorates them for sale. I think it looks more interesting and it obviously shows the flavor instead of them all having the same frosting or something.

We had a cupcake table (chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet cupcakes), with one cake for cutting.  Although we probably could have skipped the cake, as it was harder to eat, so no one did and my DH and I spent the next week eating it!

I think it fit our look perfectly, and we received TONS of compliments on how great they were!

@futurearmybee:  Thanks! My husband is not a big fan of cake but he loves banana pudding.

The cake topper was from HeatherBoydWire on Etsy. She was really easy to work with and it came out perfectly!
