@MsAmandaAnn:  I’m doing white bridesmaids but they are wearing cocktail length dresses so I stand out in my full length dress.  Here are my inspiration pics:

After seeing the last picture and not being able to pick out the bride (I don’t think there is one), I decided to make mine the only full length dress.

It looks like sashes or some other pop of color on the bridesmaids may make you stand out as the bride if you really want them to wear long dresses too.

I’m doing full-length ivory Ivy & Aster dresses with sweetheart necklines. I don’t have a photo of the dresses that the girls got, but ivory bridesmaids dresses are nothing new or unusual. It’s a tradition for practically every royal wedding for the bridal party to wear ivory.

@MsAmandaAnn:  In the UK at least, it was traditional (a looong time ago) for the bridesmaids to wear white/ivory. The reason for having bridesmaids in the first place was so that if the devil tried to snatch the bride away, he would be confused by all the white dresses and wouldn’t know which one was the bride! So the bridesmaids were essentially guardians for the bride.

So having bridesmaids in white isn’t weird, it’s going back to the roots of the tradition! I love the idea of coloured sashes / mix of short and long dresses as PP have suggested. Also how about coloured bouquets for you all rather than white dresses with white bouquets? 🙂

My sisters were wearing white dresses of their choice.
