Our wedding has a rustic, DIY feel, so we are going to go with something like these:

I don't know if you have a them or feel for your wedding, this may not work. On Martha Stewart Weddings, there is a photo gallery of creative escort cards. Since you have a calligrapher, I think that alone will be lovely!

This was one of the things that I was never willing to put a lot of thought into. We just wrote guest names on these mini envelopes and inside was card that doubled as directing them to their table and a drink ticket.
I got an old solid wood door from one of my parent's friends to use for my seating cards. I nailed in some nails, strung some twine and used mini wooden clothespins to hang them up! I had cards with the table numbers inside envelopes with the names on the outside just in case something happened and I could just swap names around instead of making brand new cards. This is the only picture I have of it though. I wish my photographer had gotten a cute picture before everyone took the cards. Oh well!
I havent done them yet so I don't have pics but this is one of things i put a lot of thought into beause it ties in our proposal.
FH proposed with personalized M&Ms so for the esco cards i'm doing little bages of M&Ms with a tage that will have the name and table and the little bags will hang on these 3tres that i purchased a painted silver
Something like this

My idea was stolen from (or inspired by) Mrs. Guinea Pig. Our colors were shades of blue, grey, and purple. The multi-color flowers were for our wedding party members (and because we had an uneven number of leftover petals
). I've included an overhead view of the entire escort card table, as well as a close-up view of each flower.

I loved my escort cards, I had a mini Lion theme going as my last name means lion in spanish.
i brought these from etsy http://www.etsy.com/people/cuddlecreature?ref=ls_profile
@smyley: These are absolutely amazing. I have major escort card envy! :)
We're planning on doing these for our fall themed wedding...
Follow the link to look at my inspiration... for my escort cards. They will be a ruby red background to match my colors.
One of my DIY projects:

Ours. We typed them on the computer and cut the paper up ourselves couple weeks before the wedding. I wanted to get cute ones already made but none of them were fitting into the little chairs I bought!
I love them all, esp. those cute little metal chairs! Due to limited time, I'm doing a seating chart after all. thanks for the help ladies!
This is one of the things that I procrastinated on and just couldn't bring myself to care/stress over too much. I bought escort cards from Michael's and used an argyle stamp I already had. I had my mom write the names on them since I was over writing after hand addressing all our invitations. We just put them on a table at the entrance to our reception and reused the alter flowers on the table.

@meliss:Those chairs are so fun! Do you mind sharing where you bought them?
@blingybride: Glad you liked them! :)
@PinkPinstripes: Thanks! I can't remember where I ended up ordering them, I found them on a few sites and I think picked the cheapest. Here are a couple:

I have put a lot of thought & effort into my entire wedding and now 2 weeks before the big day I am realizing there are just a couple of things I have sort of given zero thougth to and are very important including... Escort cards! I was looking at having a seating chart made and now am thinking escort cards may be easier as I'll have my calligrapher do those as well. Please show off your escort cards and displays for some inspiration... thanks!
