This isn't me, but it's a pic of my same gown: it's a french bustle

I don't have images of it down (didn't think to take them), but here's the pinnings on my French bustle (pinned underneath).

Here's mine!! we are working on fixing the corset, but it was my first time having it tied, etc so ignore that part... eta this is a french
@azin: i don't think that's a french? i think it may be an american??
@AzinAugust: You're rocking an American bustle! :)
American bustles are overbustles, where the fixtures (hooks, loops, buttons, etc.) are on top of the dress. French bustles are underbustles- the ribbons are hidden under the skirt.
French bustles are easier to sew because they're hidden, but American bustles can be GORGEOUS. My favorite, though, is when a dress has a satin underskirt and an organza overlay...then it gets a French bustle on the satin skirt and an American on the overlay!! It's a huge pain to sew, but it's so worth it.
Mine is a ballroom bustle - everything gets tucked under and tied up - only works well on shorter trains. Bustle shown is pinned in before the tie flappy-things were removed.
down..

BUMP. I wanna see more bustles, I have my fitting coming up!
@gundy21:
Normally I hate the look of any bustle, I couldn't even tell it was bustled! Yours looks amazing and really natural with the dress. Awesome job!!
Thanks, bunny! I didn't want the bustle to take away form the clean lines of the dress or hide the beadwork above the train. Simplicity is a wonderful thing! Plus it was very easy to get it tied up - MOH was very happy and thankful!
My dress is HEAVY so I was very concerned how the bustle would work. Instead of doing a 3 point or whatever type system with multiple loops and buttons my tailor just put in a very sturdy loop and a string (the extra string that came with my dress for the corset) at the end of my train. The string went through the loop and voila!

@gundy21 I didn't know ballroom bustles existed! I was wondering what I was going to do with my train... but that solves that problem!
My train:
And my bustle:
It was a single point under bustle (french) on the lace overlay, with an overbustle point holding up the underskirt separately.
@kayakblondie: Your dress is gorgeous and I love the bustle!
Yay! I think the bustles look so cool! I just had my first alterations appointment last weekend and the bustle works so well.
Dress unbustled:
Bustled (sorry, not the best pic!):
Bump! I`d love to see more bustle pics as I am going for my fitting soon!
I just had my second fitting today! Here is the dress - pre bustle & fitting so you can see the train

And here it is with the bustle (3 point, 7 loop)

5 point french bustle... it'll lay prettier when it's not just held up by a few pins tehe.
These are pretty!
I actually like mine better bustled than not. But I'm not a big fan of trains anyway. I llike simple over extravagant (for me), and I don't like a lot of floof. I'll probably just wear it bustled all night...

@scadadle15: Wow, that's the most gorgeous bustle I've seen so far! Do you have another picture, maybe from the back? What kind of bustle is it?
Here's the back of my dress. I have an enormous train (both length and width). It's not quite finished in these pictures. There are still buttons to go on the bodice and a little tweaking here and there, but essentially this is how it'll look (oh, and the veil will be wider as they sent it too narrow initially).

And bustled:
