kansas_nurse: hello! My mom is beautiful and wonderful in every way! She is also plus sized, and was worried about finding a dress. To make it a fun experience for her, I ordered 8 dresses online, and let her choose.. (She was worried the stores wouldn’t have a selection for her). We had a fashion show at home! It was great fun. Every dress I ordered was the cut she asked for, except one…the one she chose! My BMs wore shades of gold and brown. Hers was a vibrant blue, and looked stunning on her. Every other dress was beautiful, but “wore” her. This dress, she owned! If your mom has concerns that are similar to those of my mother, I suggest you order a bunch and try them on in the privacy of your home. (Nordstrom has an awesome selection online, and a very liberal return policy!) We returned the others. My mom loved it! An experience she was dreading turned into one of great fun! She didn’t match the wedding party, but instead stood out like the sparkling and vibrant gem she is. 🙂

My mom got her dress at Macy’s. Eggplant was one of our colors, but I think this dress came in other colors as well. She didn’t want a standard MOB dress, because she said they looked too matronly, but I thought this was a nice pick for our outdoor summer wedding. It was reasonably priced, too, at under $100. (For reference, my mom is 5’10” and wearing a low heel in the photo.)

kansas_nurse: my mom had A LOT of trouble finding a dress she liked. She is curvy but not plus sized. She really loved the MOB dresses from Siri, (siriinc.com) they don’t look like normal MOB dresses, and a lot of dresses have wide waistbands that are very flattering. You choose the dress and fabric/color separately. They also agreed to combine the top & bottom of different dresses for us when my mom thought she wanted that.

kansas_nurse: MOB’s blue dress. MOG (red dress below) just purchased her dress today, after trying on like 100 dresses lol .

My beautiful mother and brother at my brother’s wedding 5 years ago. She is wearing a pink suit and the wedding colors were red, black and white.

My parents and my brother. I can not find a photo of the full dress that is appealing. LOL! The only one I found was her passed out in a chair after it was over and I dont think she would like me sharing because it is not the best.

My mom would have been 49 a t the time, if that helps put it in perspective. Since it was a more casual, garden type wedding, the suits were very appropriate. My granny wore a red one.

This is Mom’s dress. I helped her pick it out and just LOVE it. Ah sorry it’s so huge – I don’t know how to make it smaller. Since my wedding is September, we don’t have any prof. photos yet.

My mom ordered this dress in Aubergine, which is like an eggplant purple. Isn’t she gorgeous! I joked she’s going to upstage me with how banging that dress makes her look!
