I am having an internal struggle, looking for some thoughs from fellow Bees. I have been forever thinking that my something blue would be my garter, but have recently started thinking (due to recent finds on etsy) that a slendor black lace garter might be the ticket. Thinking that matching the garter, panties, and shoes would give me some inner sexiness on that day, and my shoes will be black. So if I do that, there goes my something blue. Then I thought…Girl, you have a blue rose tattooed on your shoulder, it is something blue that is with you all the time. Problem… I was planning on covering the tattoo for the wedding. Although it is mine, I have had it since I was 18, and it is a part of me that I love…I am not generally a big fan of tattoos showing on brides. So opinions please…
I plan to wear my hair 1/2 up…so I will have hair hanging down my back. Here is a picture where the tattoo shows (this isn’t my dress, but you can’t see it in any of the pics of the dress I purchased, my hair is covering it).

I think it’s a great idea.
I heard someone talk about colouring in her tattoo (with felt tip pens or something) to match her wedding colours. I thought that was an amazing idea too. You might want to brighten yours up, to make the blue colour pop..

I have 3 black stars running down from the back of my neck. I absolutely love them but I’ve been thinking about covering them up on my wedding day. I think that on your wedding day your makeup, your hair and your skin must be perfect, flawless and immaculate and I think that the tattoos (pretty as they are) just don’t match the full picture.

I like it and you got it for a reason, not to cover it up!

@AdriH: This is exactly what I am struggling with. I have always felt that same way, that the bride should be flawless on her wedding day. And even though I don’t consider my tattoos flaws, they just have never seemed bridal to me.
I have a few more months, I will figure it out.

i think its a great idea! but i was one of those brides that let her tattoo show.
i have a tattoo in between my shoulder blades. i really love it so i didnt find the need to cover it up. its also isnt huge or very in your face, i thought it looked lovely with my dress and didnt take away from teh “bridal” look at all…but that is my my experience
here is a pic 🙂

I have two tattoos on my back- one angel representing my grandmother- and a nautical star representing my grandfather… Both mean alot to me and i wouldnt cover them no matter what….
Obviously if you hate the tattoo cover it… but if its a part of who you are dont change it just for one day…
I have 8 earrings in my ears (no gauges) and everyone keeps asking me if i will take most of of the out for my wedding day… and my response always is no because they are who i am and im not changing to match some sterotype of what a bride is supposed to be!!! So i will not be covering tattoos or taking out my many tasteful earrings (though they will all be diamond balls!!)
So my vote- Flaunt it!! 🙂

I cant see your picture, but if you are comfortable with showing your tattoo then you should, I have a big tattoo on my back and I will not be covering it up at all!

I started a thread about mine being finished BEFORE and FOR the wedding. Here is is, in all of it’s glory. I will be wearing my hair very long and down in a hippie style with a jeweled head band…my wedding is along the lines of Anthropogie meets traditional meets city. 🙂 I’m a pretty traditional person underneath the ink.
