I'm sure this has already been posted, but I love chuppahs and would love to see more inspiration pictures! Please post!!
I also made our huppah and my aunt and uncle helped me with the poles/bases. Our wedding was very much nature themed and we wanted things to have an organic feeling to them so the poles were branches that my uncle trimmed from his back yard. I bought fiberglass pots and he put PVC pipe in them and poured plaster in so that they'd have a heavy base to set the poles in. We still had huppah holders but the bases really helped.
I sewed the huppah using two colors of dupioni silk and painted a line from the sheva brachot in a circle on the middle with sparkly brown fabric paint. Although I haven't done it yet at our new place (we moved not too long ago), my intent is to hang the huppah above our bed.
Thanks everyone for posting the pictures. I have been searching high and low for pictures for some inspiration.
I'm searching like crazy for a pic... one of the most awesome huppah's I've ever seen was actually the brides grandfather's prayer shawl! It was such a sweet way to honor him. :)
I think this one is pretty unique too:
Here's mine. The lace that's hanging down is from my great-grandmother's wedding dress, which also served as my sister's chuppah.

Not being of the Jewish faith, I never heard of these. But they sure are pretty!
2dbride: I saw your chuppah all over the net! People are using yours as a major inspiration :) Nice work lady!!
Beautiful pictures - keep them coming!
Can anyone think of a really filmy, natural (i.e. not polyester) fabric that doesn't cost a fortune?
dadada -- organza is the only thing that comes to mind... i have no idea if that is expensive though? (sorry if it is and that was a stupid suggestion)
i recently saw a picture of a gorgeous chuppah with a filmy fabric too but don't know what it is...was going to ask the florist
dadada, We are using a very lightweight, open weave linen for our chuppah fabric. I found the fabric in the home decor section at a fabric store. It has a nice, ethereal drape to it.
Our Chuppah was made from my husband's tallis, his dad's tallis, and his grandfather's tallis sewn together with extra fabric. It's hard to see all three of them in the pictures, but it was gorgeous. It took forever to make, and we had a friend of the family who did it for us.
We loved it!
@QueenBecca037: what an amazing idea! I've heard of using your SO's tallis, but I'd never even thought of MULTIPLE! How wonderful to incorporate generations of Jewish tradition!
beautiful chuppahs ladies!
lizzard2278, your chuppah is beautiful!...did you make your chuppah? if so would you be willing to post the materials and how you did it. thank you so much
@ QueenBecca037: How adorable are you in that first photo??? It radiates joy.
Here's ours:

Thanks daniellealys! I wish I could help you but our florist made it.... I appreciate the compliment though! :)
I honestly have no idea. That's a picture from our venue of what ours will look like.
Im so happy to see these!!! My fiance wanted to make our chuppah but since we live in Virginia and our wedding is in Georgia (an hour from the airport) I think it will be very difficult. My FMIL said she is going to talk to her synagogue about borrowing their chuppah. And then we will just decorate it ourselves. We are NOT having a Jewish ceremony, but we love the chuppah and what it represents so we wanted to incorporate it into our wedding. PLUS our wedding is in August in Georgia so it will provide some much needed shade!!!
this is going to be ours. our good friend of the family made it for his son, and then their daughter used it, and now we get to use it! only we won't have all the tool, it's a simple wood chupah, and we're going to use either both of our grandpa's tallis or just one.
clarebee, I actually made a portable popup chuppah. There are pictures of it in prior replies to this post, and instructions for making it can be found at this link. So if you are unable to find a chuppah at your wedding location, there are other options.
this isn't my chuppah, it was my brother's but it was so cute and fun i thought i would share! they sent away squares of fabric and had everyone decorate it, and then a friend made it into a quilt.

@artbee - my dads wife makes quilts as her almost full time hobby so this would be an awesome idea!!! I have a feeling she is going to make us some sort of quilty thing for our wedding (which im not thrilled about but thats a whole different issue) but IF she did make a quilt type thing, this is what I would want her to do!
Used my Tallis and a friend made the poles out of cherry and purpleheart 8 ft so they can rest on the ground and the bearers only have to steady them.

Our florist did an amazing job creating our chuppah! It was so light, bright, and flowing.
Ours is made of flowerpots, birch poles, and a tablecloth from my grandmother.
OHHH I love this thread! I'm thinking about making our chuppah and using a tablecloth my grandma sewed by hand when she was young. I will post pictures when I start my DIY!
I saw this recently: A couple wanted to use their grandfather's tallit as their huppah, but it was worn and fragile to hang from the huppah poles. So they got a huppah with a simple, square fabric canopy and laid their grandfather's tallit over the top of it.
We made it ourselves. :) the covering is our shabbat table cloth!
