I wore a green cocktail dress. My mother had some issues with me not wanting to wear white/ivory, but she eventually got over it. DH was like, “Do whatever you want!” Even my 87-year-old grandma loved it.

Here’s a shot from our reception day (we had our reception the day after our Friday morning ceremony so more people could attend) and one I snapped awhile back that shows the color a bit better, without all the flash. It looks like a bottle green in the first pic, but it’s actually a deeper green “in person.”

(I knew there was going to be one lol-worthy cake-eating shot in the bunch.)

I had a hell of a time finding one that wasn’t too bright or too dark, and about a month before the wedding, I found this dress on the rack at a department store. I say if you want a colored dress, GO FOR IT! Do you have pictures of dresses you like yet, or are you just starting to think about it? I’d love to see them. 🙂

I’m not married yet so I can’t speak to how it went over with friends/family, but I have been considering wearing a blue dress for my wedding. I had to buy it for a friend’s black-tie wedding, and it’s beautiful and makes me feel like a queen, so I figure why not?

I wore a prom dress I got at a prom/wedding trunk show. I paid $200 total which was exactly my budget (limit given by my mother, who was paying for it). I was doubting my choice for a while since it’s not the traditional white dress and I’m never going to get to wear one, even though my mom and seamstress were in love with it and it fit me really well. All my doubts were blown away when my family saw me at the ceremony and they were all super impressed and kept repeating how they loved it. I would definitely recommend a prom dress.

@Aerya: SO pretty! I love the details on the top. Also, you rock for being a bespectacled bride. 🙂

I love wedding dresses that compliment the bride, no matter what color! A friend of mine wore an orange dress and her family gave her hell as she was preparing for th wedding. She loved it and so did her FI, she had a great time. It is YOUR wedding who cares about what anybody else thinks.

I went to a wedding recently and the bride wore a bright red dress.  I don’t want to post a picture since I don’t have permission from her, but it was gorgeous.  Everyone realy loved it.

I’m on the hunt for a pink dress 🙂 I just made a post about it today. Here’s a Claire Pettibone I tried on that I liked but didn’t love. Beautiful dress just not mine.
