i realize every designer (allure, alfred angelo, mori lee etc...) is a designer.
but i mean vera wang, lazaro, ines di santo, etc type of designers!
i was just looking at a LONG LONG thread for the vera wang gemma gown so it got me wanting to see more!
i live in minnesota, and it is so hard to see any gowns around here that are alvina valenta, jim hjelm, or anything on the higher end ... so i thought maybe this is a way!
i love to look at gowns and stalk the wedding shoppe's website often.. but ive seen them all too many times now!
[i do NOT mean to be 'snobby' or exclude any other brides, budgets or gowns]
if you have one - show us your couture taste ladies!
I don't know if you consider Ulla Maija in that group, but here is my Ulla Maija gown:

From one of my fittings:
Bustled:
@KatNYC2011: i love the fold in the front! NEVER seen that before!
@vreelans: Thank you! I wasn't sure about the skirt at first, but I love how unique the styling is and how I'd never seen anything like it.
I think they actually have a Monique Lhuillier boutique in Minneapolis, which I was surprised about, because they don't have one in NYC.
I am wearing the Monique Lhuillier Magical skirt with an Augustine corset. No pictures, but I will after my wedding.
@vreelans: Such a gorgeous gown! I have drooled over Jim Hjelm JH8814 and Lazaro's LZ3719 for years. I would love to try both on, but I know that they are way out of my price range, so I won't torture myself lol
@KatNYC2011: I'm wearing Ulla Maija, too! I'm excited to see your dress because I haven't seen many others by the designer. It's beautiful! Here's me in the (rather wrinkly) sample, haven't had my first fitting yet but I think it's going to be in March. I can't wait!

ETA: wow that does look a little creepy with my head cut off but I was not looking cute that day! haha
@Scc6a: That's beautiful.
What's the name of it?
The quality of Ulla Maija dresses are amazing. I loved my choice.
@louisianablue: crazy! i live in minneapolis and tried to do some research but definitely havent came across that yet! i have been to the only one i did find "lateiler couture" but every dress seemed to resemble the vera wang gemma. so neat that you know there is one here though!
@missfenway: they are so far out of my price range too! i actually got my lazaro for 80% off in a sample sale! ill have to get alterations done/let it out/shed some pounds but worth it. i couldnt pass it up because i knew id probably never find such a deal again!
@reginaphalange: thank you thank you! i bought it without ever seeing it in person or trying it on. and so far only my mom has seen it. so i really appreciate the words and & affirmation! makes me feel better about going out on such a whim, lol!
@vreelans: Thank you! :-)
@KatNYC2011: I believe the name is Laine (I think I'm spelling it right...) I also thought they were such amazing quality. And it didn't hurt that I was buying during a trunk show so the designer was at my store when I was trying it on. He was telling my mom all about how they get the lace and details just right and it was so interesting!
@vreelans: PS--I LOVE when dresses have buttons all the way down the back like yours. It's such a pretty detail!
@Scc6a: Oh awesome. I never got to meet the designer. I bet that was super interesting.
I am fortunate enough to live near San Francisco so I had the opportunity to visit a diverse range of salons in pursuit of my dress. Here are a few of my "maybe" dresses along with MY dress by Lazaro at the end:
#1 Ulla Meier

#2 Anne Barge

# 3 Amsale

# 4 Rivini

#5 Romona Keveza

# 6 Manuel Moto for Pronovias

Finally, MY DRESS #7 Lazaro (pic 2 is me with Lazaro!)

@Pand0ra: what a lucky bride you are! and to have met lazaro, yay! i loved the anne barge dress too! thank you for sharing!
@Pand0ra: LOVE your dress - I thought you couldn't get much better than the Moto dress but apparently I thought wrong!
I totally meant LZ 3819 on my previous comment lol. And after looking at this post again this morning, I tortured myself by looking at it online. If only I had a spare 6K *sigh*
@cejo13: Thank you, I'm pretty smitten :-) I had a terrible case of dress regret the first time around so I'm VERY glad I decided to ditch my previous dress and keep looking. I finally feel at peace with this aspect of the wedding.
Jenny Lee- I'm going for my first fitting this month-

@confusedbridehere: she is my DREAM!!!! i love love love love her. i wanted.. who am i kidding. i WANT turquoise so bad!
beautiful!
I love this thread. Gorgeous dresses ladies.
This is my love, Augusta Jones, Tina. She came in 3 days ago. I can't wait to get her altered. =)

I tried on several in a gorgeous boutique in Houston.
#1 Ines de Santo

# 2 Lazaro

# 3 Another Lazaro with a slightly different beaded bodice and a different skirt (from the back)

# 4 Satin ballgown- I think this was Reem Acra- please correct me if i'm wrong

# 5- Liancarlo

#6 My Dress- Rivini

@J-Bride: The back of #3's skirt made me gasp- GORGEOUS. And the fabric on #4 looks so beautiful! Is your dress chiffon? I can't tell.
@Zouave: It's a pretty stunning train isn't it?! I actually visited that boutique twice. I chose my dress on the first visit (my first ever dress shopping day!) and then the next day i had a little panic about whether it was the right one. I worried that I should have gotten a bigger skirt or longer train or more sparkly detail....so i tried on extremes of all of those just to see! Thats why I ended up trying on the lazaro dresses. Beaded bodices & trains to swooooon over!! So gorgeous. I stared at myself in it for a long time, wondering if I'd made a mistake with mine....until I tried mine on again & I knew I'd made the right choice. The lazaro trains are breath taking but I don't have a nice bust & teeny waist-- I'm a legs & small chested girl so I think a tighter fitted dress was doing me more favours! I'm also getting married in spring, in Texas so the heavy silk fabric of the Reen Acra was too much. My dress is Silk Mikado and Organza. It has a sweetheart neckline with an organza overlay. I had never seen anything like that.
Most people that have seen these pictures comment on how beautiful the lazaro skirt is so I hope I've made the right choice!!
Here is my Lazaro 3002! Dont mind the stool.. lol I couldn't take a full length pic without it.

I've posted pictures of my one-of-a-kind Jorge Manuel dress in the blog side of the Bee. I haven't seen anyone else on here with one of his dresses...but I have a feeling that will change. :)

I am selling a BRAND NEW Jim Hjelm #8106 wedding gown. It is a size 6 in ivory and has NOT been altered. It has not been worn or used in any way. I purchased it for my August 2012 wedding and have since found a different dress I will be wearing. It is a beautiful gown and it is very flattering. It has a chapel train and it is a fit and flare. It flares out about mid thigh. In the photos I am wearing it with a sash, but I did not purchase this and it is not part of the gown. I also ordered buttons I was going to have a seamstress sew down the back of the dress and I am willing to include those with the dress as well. Please let me know if you have any other questions or would like more photographs!
U can see it listed here: Â http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/41941/Jim-Hjelm-8106-Size-6.html
I feel awful having it just sit in my moms closet!
@J-Bride: INES DI SANTO!!!!!!!! you tried on my DREAM dress!!! i love love love turquoise. oh gosh. i die.
this is mine from the website, i think im altering it to have the flutter top part taken off into a regular sweetheart

@vreelans: The Monique Lhuillier boutique in MN is on 50th & France in Edina! Right next to the Priscilla of Boston store that just closed.
@vreelans: :) it was a really gorgeous dress!! It was SOOO figure flattering! I was not sure about the huge flower so the boutique owner suggested having the flower removed and adding a sash. It was pretty spectacular but too rich a fabric for my spring outdoor wedding. Are you going to try it on? It is very booty flattering ;)
