After my earlier post from awhile ago (HERE) I thought I would start a post to see what everyone's favors actually look like! So post an image of your favors!!
I'm doing a spread of candies and desserts. Guest will be able to pick what they want and take home in a take out boxes or bags.
We did jars (in the shape of our cake, hexagon) filled with Penzey's Spices (4 different flavors so 2 of each kind at tables for 8). I used Mrs. Cherry Blossom's template for the labels. On the front each one had the type of spice and on the back they said "May there always be spice in your life." and our date below that. We didn't get any good pictures but there was a basket filled with extras that I can show you.
Ooo I like that idea!! Those are soo cute! How much approx. did it cost you per one?
I don't have an image yet :( My wedding is in a few weeks I will definitely post photos.
They came out to ~$1.75 a piece not counting my time and an ink cartridge for the printer. We bought the jars from specialtybottle.com ($110.20) and the ribbon from waymoreforless.com ($12.95). The only other supplies were a ream of heavy weight paper (12 labels per page so ~17 pages) and the fiskars round round punch (large). I made 200 favors total and the spices came out to $204.56.
We bought the Southwest Seasoning, Ozark Seasoning, Cajun Seasoning, and Sunny Paris Seasoning (no salt option). I selected them based on use, ingredients, and smell. If you have a Penzeys near you you can smell every single thing, it's heaven.
We're doing a donation to the pound that I got our late dog at as our favor but my fmil didn't love that idea so now we are also doing lindt ball truffles for at each seat.
Which brings me to a question. Seeing how its our wedding and it was our dog that was near and dear to our hearts and not my fmil's wedding or place to decide on favors...do you think people are going to even notice or care that we made a donation to the pound in her memory? I feel like the candy favor is taking away from Roxy. Am I being stupid?
We got vetoed out on putting anything at each seat about the donation by both our parents so that's why we're doing the chocolate. What do you all think?
I think it's a lovely idea to make a donation to your animal shelter that you have such close ties to. I find it interesting that neither sets of parents are willing to let you put a note with the truffle favors stating your gift seeing as you are compromising by including the truffles. I'm not sure of your theme but maybe you could use your dog as some thing other than the favors. Maybe as your table numbers (different pictures) where the escort cards have a small note on them explaining why you are using Roxy's pictures and what you've done in her memory. Or maybe just one note on the table under the "number" picture so it isn't super obvious to please the parents but still gets the message out there.
Or maybe by the guest book or escort card table you put a framed picture of Roxy with a piece of paper explaining your donation and how dear she is to both you and your FI. That way it is seen by all and they can choose to notice or not but the information isn't at their tables.
See if there is another way to get your message and caring thought out there while still appeasing your parents.
Our favors weren't as creative as some others, we just did a small candle with our names and wedding date and put them in bags. I think they came out to be about a dollar a person.
@emilybrooke: if you think adding chocolates as favors is going to take away from the significance of the donations, then i say don't use them. i know a lot of times during wedding planning, brides try to make everyone happy, but if this is something that's really important to you, then pull the "it's my wedding card".
i hope it doesn't seem like i'm being too harsh.
@Pelikila I'm doing cajun seasoning too!! It's going made by me and FI and we're going to include a recipe using the spice. I'm glad to see someone else did Cajun spice--I was second guessing myself for a while!
We're going the somewhat boring wildflower seeds route. I'm still working on the template for the packets, so I'll post pictures once it's finalized. It's going to be a pain, but they'll be cute. I'm starting to feel kind of over the idea, but at the same time I do think they'll be really cute, I don't want to not do favors, and I can't think of any other cute ideas. I dunno. They might get cut in the end.
Our favors doubled as escort cards. The outside had their name and table number. Inside was a framed photo of us from our engagement session. They were a big hit - all were taken home at the end of the night, and we've seen a few displayed at friend's houses.
I thought this was an awesome and affordable favor. Personalized lip balm. Ebay queen here....
I found these favor boxes on www.myjeanm.com and thought it would be fun to mix and match colors (Pewter & Margarita) for the favors. I may add a favor tag on them, but wrap with a cute ribbon. Unsure if I should have them double as a place card - loved the idea with the frames in place card labeled boxes...
@ Pelikila, Thanks for mentioning specialtybottle.com, I checked out the website and I think thats where I'm going to get my bottles for my favors (I'm prob going to do herbed olive oil) they are so cheap on the website, thanks!
@ Emilybrooke, I agree with others, this is your wedding and I can see why you would want to donate to an animal shelter, considering you got your dog from that same shelter. I think a message like that really tugs at your heart and your guests would appreicate that gift in their name vs. eating a peice of chocolate that last one minute. Perhaps you can explain that you want your favors to be meaningful and that this is something that is important to you, then hopefully your FMIL will understand.
As one other idea, a friend of mine had a basket of dog bones for all guests who had a dog to take home with them. She tied a note around each bone that said "my mom and dad got married" but you could write something about your donation to the animal shelter. Good Luck!
Great idea!! snmcdowell! Those are great and useful!!! I like that idea and its two things instead of one!!
I really like the dog bone idea. You could even do cookies or a piece of chocolate in the shape of a dog bone with the note like AnnieAAA said. That way you cover the chocolate/treat and your true gift: the donation.
My fiance and I love those lottery scratchers.. we are going to have servers carry them on silver trays to all of the guests during the reception. I figure its fun for all and some may even get lucky!!!

We're donating to the ASPCA in lieu of regular favors - They give you these nice placecards with great text already printed on and in them.
We're doing favors like these from Martha Stewart... but we're getting pizzelles made from www.justpizzelles.com to put in the envelope. FI and I each picked one flavor. I picked Mocha (also the name of our beagle!) and he picked cinnamon roll, I think. For two cookies per person, I think it's going to be about $.50 a piece.
I went with these. Everybody knows I'm an avid experimental chef in my kitchen, and I couldn't just let myself pass these up! We're going to double them as escort cards though and they're quite affordable since obviously a couple doesn't need two of these.
We're doing olive oil glass bottles as a tribute to Italy, where my FI and I met. We are thinking of adding a tag with our favorite bruschetta recipe.
I decided on chocolate flower pops. Found them on Etsy for about $0.85 a piece. No work is involved, she's doing the ribbon ties and adding printed favor tags. Oh, and they are delicious!

I have a set that i am going to buy for the girls and a set for the men. If you have a better idea for the guys let me know.
I love the note pads... they are so cute
We're getting married in October, so our favors are maple leaf shaped bottles filled with maple syrup. I also tied an eggplant bow with a pretty tag around the neck of the bottle, since my bridesmaids are wearing eggplant. Best part: my grandfather taps his own trees and filled the syrup bottles himself! So cute!!
We did lottery scratchers! We had servers pass them out on silver trays to all the guests closer to the end of the night.. when everyone one already having a blast and had a few drinks. Everyone had so much fun scratching them and seeing who won etc.. it was a HUGE hit!!
My FI does metal work at his job. We have a lot of friends that are drinkers but I am tired of getting koozies (keep your beer cold) at a lot of weddings, so we decided to do something different. My FI is designing and making bottle openers that look similar to these. They are 3 in 1, twist top, pop top, and can openers. We are going to make them out of metal so they will be silver, and will be engraved with something...I still haven't decided if we are going to make it into a key ring, that looks a little cheap to me, but these are going to be tied to everyone's first bottle with a pretty ribbon. We will probably have bagged cookies (or those pretty cupcake pops, *woop woop Miss BF!!**) for everyone that can't or doesn't drink. Forgive the pictures, ours will look MUCH more pretty and sleek than these, and functional!! :)
I made a set of wine charms for each guest. They came out to less than $1.50 per set, including the boxes.
Message me for more pictures and/or instructions.
I am doing the wildflower route as well. I got small white coin envelopes to put the seeds in. They are doubling as escort cards as well and are going to be pinned to a grid that my venue has. Here is a picture of the cards. On the back, in the scripty font it will say: wildflower seeds plant with love. I left the table number blank as I will hand write that in when I do my table assignments.
I also did a donation to the local animal shelter. We sponsored the adoption of four dogs. On the website, it says sponsored by the guests of our wedding! I'm going to some sort of card at people's seats, tbd.
We'll be baking mini key lime bundt cakes as our favors. A test batch is on the schedule for this weekend. Hoping for the best! :o)
My FI and I love to play board games on the weekend with friends (lame I know!) and Yahtzee is one of our favorites. So, we decided to give each guest their own mini Yahtzee game. The project is still in the works, but I will be sure to post pictures when finished!
My mother, all my aunts and grandmother all made dozens of their famous cookies for a cookie table as our favors. There are pictures of it on my "married bio" under the "details" photo gallery. Here is a link that will take you to the married bio.
