Haven't made mine yet, but I think I'm gonna go for something like this:
We used table names instead of numbers at our rustic, Northwoods themed wedding. Each table was a different type of fish.

This was my original design but I'm about to do a complete overhaul of them....and when I say complete...I mean complete.

@grace - I love your table names!!! We thought about doing something similar with all fish b/c my husband is a fly-fisherman. Yours turned out so great!
We ended up doing table names with pictures of our (and our family member's) pets. We had 8 tables with our cat and dog, our siblings dogs, our parents cats and dogs. We just printed 8x10 pictures of them (with their name on them) and stuck them in an inexpensive wooden frame. Since our pets couldn't be there with us, we thought it was a great way to include them! It was a surprise to our family members and they loved seeing their pets there! And then we gave the frames to the pet owners afterwards to keep. They loved it.

We're doing Classic cars...it's where my FH can do a little bit of planning. I don't have any mock-ups yet either. But basically, we'll find pics of 20-25 different classic cars, and then use photoshop to make them all black and white and then have "Table One ~ 55 Chevy"...I'll make it look pretty...and he can have his cars :)
They were house numbers!! But they didn't have visible screw holes, so no one knew. Propped them up on the vases with a few glue dots. We had very minimalist centerpieces.

Ours were mini satin photo albums with 10 of our e-pics inside... I find it hilarious that our guests fought over them

ours went along with our fall theme. a graphic designer designed them for free for us - we found her in the weddingbee classifieds.
