I feel like promise rings sometimes get overlooked. I love mine and have been wearing it for 3 years. Im curious to see what everyone elses looks like. Heres your chance to let your promise ring shine!!
I love yours! I dont have one - I told him once that the only ring I want from him is an engagement ring. I tend to only wear jewellery that has meaning to me so if I was to have a promise ring I would have a hard time not wearing it in the future :)
HHere's mine! It's actually my third one from SO...I lost the first one, and the I wore the second one until the band broke! :S
I think I will use it as my travel ring when we get engaged (should be SOON!!!!! its on its way). And wear it on my right hand somedays. Or might just wear it to work. All i know is, it wont sit in my jewelry box all too often. I've put it through alot and its holding up just fine. So why not wear it? :)
I love all your rings! They are very unique and all have some type of swirl going on. Does having a promise ring kinda suffice anyones want for an engagement ring? Or atleast how LONG does it suffice, i guess i should ask.
This is mine:

He bought it for me for our first Christmas together (which was 2009).
It hasn't been cleaned in a while, but when it gets cleaned, it sparkles like crazy! I absolutely love it, aquamarine is my favourite gemstone.
These are all really pretty rings, do you wear the promise ring on the same finger that you would wear your engagement ring? Do the men wear a promise ring as well? I think I would have a hard time wearing one on my ring finger unless he was wearing one there too.

Even though I'm engaged now, before I left Australia when we met for the first time, we bought each other promise rings and exchanged them in front of the Adelaide Art Gallery :3 He has one too but with 3 stones in it. We also engraved the inside with our secret phrase so they are extra special. We wear them on the ring fingers of our right hands and will probably continue to wear them there even after we're married. I feel naked when I have to take it off!
To answer a few of the questions here, does it substitute my desire for an engagement ring? not so much haha, but at the same time its a solid reminder of our comitment and helps when I get annoyed about waiting because I realize that its not about when we get engaged or married, its about being together. Also, SO wears a promise ring that I gave him about three years ago (we both wear them on our left ring fingers)
I've always, and still do (I'm married now!), wear my promise ring on my right hand. :)
For us, it wasn't so much a "promise to get engaged". It's a symbol of where our relationship was at the time and a reminder of how far we've come!

This is ours. FI's was the same - it looks unisex to us. Anyway, we exchanged them on our two-year anniversary. Even though we're engaged, I still wear mine. FI has moved his to his left middle finger now.
@HelleCat
WOW!! Thats one heck of a promise ring! I LOVE it!
Ah! So excited to share mine, no one in my family had one, so they were a little confused by it, but I love it!
I always wear mine, right now its on my right hand, so it doesn't scratch my engagement ring. But once we get married, my engagement ring/promise ring will be stacked with my wedding band and my grandmother's.
Here is mine! He gave it to me in December 2010. I wear it on my left ring finger, and sometimes I do catch people doing a double take at it because it looks like an e-ring from afar lol....and then I realize how much I really want it to be :( lol nah i love it !
oh my goodnes.. ive never quite seen such an intricate yet balanced ring, especially in the shape of a heart! i looove it!!
here is my promise ring..
i met the love of my life august 23rd 2011 and he gave me my ring december 25th 2011
Those are all so pretty! I always wanted one when I was younger and felt too young to be engaged but now I just want the dang engagement ring :p
Sorry it is so big! started dating Dec 2008 and he gave it to me July 2011 while we were in the mountains in Colorado! We are getting engaged sometime before the year is over, whenever he decides! Also, It was too big so I wear it on my middle finger but I still love it and no one questions me if it is an ering or anything which I like since I am not constantly reminded I'm not engaged lol
Love all the rings!!
It's nice to see a friendly post of promise rings. The last one I was in talked about how childish and "high school" promise rings are. Hell if a man loves you, and want to but you a a ring pre-engagement and thats what he wants to call it, then dammit let him!
My SO got me this for our first Christmas together after 7 months of dating. I wear it on my right hand. We've now been together for 4.5 years. Hopefully this Christmas I get an official proposal!

Here is mine! I got it from my SO for my birthday last year! (just after our two year anniversary! :) sorry for it being so big I can't resize it

Mountain Man and I had legal issues before we could get married. He wanted to get me something to replace the previous wedding ring and to show that he was here for the long haul. Its tanzanite and diamonds in white gold
FI didn't give me a promise ring. He did, however, buy me a small diamond ring for our first anniversary. I figured I'd post it. After became engaged and I had to send my ering off to be resized I wore this on my left hand.

Doing this on my phone so hopefully it works. My DP surprised me with this ring last year. I love how simple and delicate it is. Ignore the terrible office lighting that makes my skin look like scales.
My promise ring is a family heirloom because it was originally my grandmother's. I started wearing it when I moved to another state for college. It made SO feel better to know that I looked taken even though he wasn't around.
@Eckle: My SO did that as well so he bought be a "going away" ring. I love it!
I kind of have 2. The second actually marked our first anniversary, but it was stolen. He replaced it because I was so sad, so I wear them interchangably.

Not sure if I had a promise ring or not. For my 23rd birthday my now husband got me a silver cross over ring that I wore all the time (now most of the time)
Not sure if it came with a promise to get married one day - I never asked.
However, I only ever wear it on my right hand as I got told it was bad luck to wear a ring on your wedding finger before you were engaged.
