My fiance and I are confused by what is expected of him for my bridal shower this weekend. A few questions:
Should he show up at the end during gift opening? (I think that would be weird)
Should he just show up at the end to help with gifts and to thank his Aunts in person?
Is it ok if he just ignored the whole shower and watched basketball, as planned? 🙂
Do we both give our hostesses thank you gifts at the end of the shower, or can we just send them nice gift baskets next week as a thank you?
Thanks for any advice!

There are no set rules but it’s generally nice if your FH shows up at the tail end of the shower (say the last twenty minutes). He can say hello to your guests, thank your hosts and help pack up the presents (and you are going to need help, trust me).
One gift to thank his Aunts should suffice. I’m sure they’ll love the gift baskets!

I agree. He should come at the end to help pack up, and be able to individually speak with the guests. A personal moment is always nice.

I agree that if he is around he should come to your shower at the very end to say hi to guests and to help pack up your loot : )

Thanks! When do you think we should we give the hostesses our thank you gifts? At the end of the shower or send them afterwards?

I would give them afterwards; whenever I get something after the event, I feel like the person I hosted for appreciated me so much that they took time out after to think of me.

I gave my hostesses their gifts after everyone had gone home and it was just us left. I think they appreciated having a gift to open after having to watch me open so many!
I also had a small gift for everyone who attended my shower which I gave out as people were leaving.

I plan to go with MsB’s strategy.

Yep, I say right after the shower would be nice.

My shower is Sunday and very close to our house so we plan to have my FI come at the very end to say hi and pick me and the gifts up. I was going to give the hosts their gifts after I opened mine, as I read on one of these posts that it is the best time.
