I'm not sure because I'm not planning them ;) but when I have attended and hosted showers a meal has always been served. It is either buffet or a plated meal - but either way it has always been a full meal. Hope this helps!
Hors d' oeuvres, finger food, petit fours or little cupcakes, and fruit. Buffet or passed.
So much more fun than plated meals.
We had hors d'oeuvres and cake at mine. It was at 2 in the afternoon, so no one was expecting a full lunch or dinner.
At every bachelorette party I've been to, we've either gone to dinner and then out, or else we've gone to dinner and then back to somebody's house for a slumber party. Usually we'd have snacks and fingerfoods at the slumber parties.
At showers, I've been to a few with full meals, but most were just brunches or had fingerfoods since they were in the middle of the afternoon.

Out of curiosity what did/will people eat at your pre-wedding parties? A full meal or just snacks/desserts?
