    Hi All,

We just found out that we are pregnant and are absolutely thrilled! Our issue is that by the time of our wedding, I will be about 18.5 weeks along and am worried about fitting into my dress. So my question to you all is how much were you showing by 18 weeks?

    Thanks!

I was not showing at all at 18 weeks.  In fact, it wasn't until 24 that I had any kind of noticable bump.  You might notice that your waist is a little thicker, so there may need to be minor adjustments to your dress, but hopefully you have a corset back, which should be no problem :)

Congratulations, please post your due date on the baby list thread!

That is such a relief to hear! I do have a corset back and my dress is currently a tad bit large as I had lost some weight between when i bought it and now so I'm hoping I'll be ok!

It seems like I may be a rare one but I was definitely showing by week 18. There was no way I was hiding my belly but again, it all depends on the person.

Good luck and CONGRATS! How exciting!

EDIT: This is where I was at 19 weeks, just to give you an idea.

Also, like Janna, the boobies grew pretty fast so I would take that into account. Your belly may not be growing much but you won't be able to help your boobs.

Wow Roddy! Its amazing how our bodies are all so different.  I am 23 week and my tummy still doesn't look like that (pic attached)  Its actually starting to get a little annoying!

@Janna - I know. There were a lot of people that didn't even look pregnant for months but not me. I think what didn't help was my boobs. They grew so freakin' fast, that it was hard not pretending that I was expecting. Not to mention, my belly grew kind of fast too. I was able to fit in my work clothes in the thigh and butt areas for a while but couldn't button or zipper them around 12 weeks.

I wish all the weight would go to my tummy!! Its enjoying spreading all over the place instead :) I went to lunch with someone due 4 weeks after me but with the cutest, and most obvious bump (second baby), and the waitress was all concerned about her drinking caffeine but they didn't say a word to me!!

Like most of the other ladies I wasn't showing much at 18 weeks either, it did look like I'd been eating a few too many cheesburgers though! My boobs were also definitely bigger.

    Congrats, that's so exciting!

I've never been prego, but I think you should be okay, especially since you have a corset in your dress.  Have you read Mrs. Dumplings posts?  She was 18 weeks along when she got married and you really couldn't tell: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/05/08/little-dumpling-surprise/  and

@Janna - Oh man, you weren't kidding! You really weren't showing at all. I probably was showing more than that at 12 weeks. My Mom claimed she was able to see it at 7 weeks.

Wow Janna! At least you won't have much to lose! I am at 31 weeks today and all the comments I get are "Wow, you are really pregnant!" The funny part is that these people see me nearly everyday... sigh.

This was me at 23 weeks...

sorry, no pics handy, but I definitely didn't have a flat tum on my 16 week photo...it wasn't until maybe 20 weeks that people said I was obviously showing though (not just bloated looking)  I did go up one band size + one cup size early on, though.

just keep exercising and eating healthy, and you will be fine

I see a personal trainer three times a week and she's convinced that I will likely not be showing by then....I guess I'm just going to have to keep my fingers crossed that I'm one of the women who doesn't start showing super early! I'm not super skinny to begin with so I think that will probably help.

Although, on the flip side, if it weren't for the wedding I would totally be wishing to be showing early so that other people knew and could tell!!

@roddybride, I was just like you! I am 22 weeks and I look like you do at 23. There was no hiding I was pregnant, I was definitely showing at 18 weeks, in fact a few people at work would look at me say, "wow, you're going to be BIG!" What do you say to that other than "thanks?!?" There is a woman here 2 weeks behind me who is much smaller than I am so definitely keep in mind everyone is different. I was in maternity clothes by 15 weeks!

@MissGoodie - sorry for hijacking your thread :) I think the truth is noone knows, anything is possible! So plan for it, but just know that your body will do what it wants to do.  I always thought because I was on the thinner side I would show quickly, and I haven't.

@flbeachbride - its amazing how people make these comments!  People tell me I am small and it makes me feel inadequate - like I am not doing my job by growing my belly more.  But my weight gain is on track! It just isn't all concentrating in my belly :)

I was definitely thicker at 17 Weeks but not noticably showing and my breasts only went from a 36C to a 38D so not a huge increase but it would have been enough to make my dress not fit.

Thanks for all the input all! I guess my other question which stems from this is would it be harmful to baby to wear a corsetted dress? My dress has quite a lot of boning and structure and I don't want it to be a problem for the baby if it's pulled tight.

At 18 weeks your baby has just barely exited the pelvis.  She's about the size of a bell pepper and well protected by your body.  I highly doubt that slightly restrictive clothes would bother her, but they may bother you.  I felt very claustrophobic in my dress anyways, and I felt even moreso that same feeling when I was pregnant... but maybe that was just me!

Someone very dear to me was 16 or so weeks at her wedding and did a beautiful corset back boned dress without a problem.  She did change right afterwards though!

I would second Mrs DG that at that point I felt bloated and uncomfortable with restrictive clothing. Maybe you could just loosen the corset back later in the evening if it becomes too uncomfortable or consider a back up dress to change into for the reception.

I know I'm a little late to the party but I just wanted to share that I'm with Roddy. I was definitely showing at 18 weeks. This is me at 18 weeks, 3 days. I am now almost 21 weeks and there is no hiding the fact that I'm pregnant.

I didn't really show a pooch until week 22 or so.  Until then, my boobs got huge, and I packed on some booty, but no baby bump!  Everyone is different, but generally you show less with your first baby.  You should be able to tell which way you're going early on!
