I am 20 weeks pregnant and you can see my bump if I wear form fitting clothes but it can stay hidden if I wear looser fitting clothes. If I choose to “show it off”, I’m not really sure there’s too much to show. Like, if people don’t know I’m pregnant they might just assume I’ve gained weight which is not what I’m going for. I can imagine some awkwardness with people noticing but not wanting to ask if I’m expecting. So I’m not sure which route to go.
When did you start showing off the bump vs hiding it? Did you wait til it was blatantly obvious that you were pregnant?

Commenting to follow. This is an interesting question to me!

I think it would depend on the situation. To work and places where I didn’t want it to impact my life until later in the pregnancy, I would probably hide it.
Around close friends and family during the holidays, I would show it off. They likely already know I’m pregnant at 20 weeks, and I know they will be so excited. I ran into a friend last week, and she is at 20 weeks as well. She is tiny, so she showed very fast. It was so exciting and made things even more real to see that bump!

@hspw714: Honestly- I just wore what I was comfortable in. I had that “she doesn’t quite look pregnant, but who really knows….maybe she just drinks a lot of beer” thing going on for quite a few weeks. I live in a cold climate, so I often wore fleece and sweatshirts, and I love “flowy” clothes. If you feel like you look good in it, wear it. Anyone who’s close enough to you is going to know you’re expecting, and strangers don’t matter.
One of my bridesmaids was right at the 20 week mark when we went to my bach party- we were in a salon getting out mails done. She had a cute knit, fitted turtleneck sweater on. This is her second baby- true, if you didn’t know she was expecting and you are really that judgemental, you might have though she was just bigger down there. But she still looked adoreable (and of course we all knew she is pregnant)- just go with what YOU’RE comfortable in 🙂

I wore maternity shirts at 20w, and I think it was probably pretty obvious. That includes form-fitting shirts. If people thought it was ambiguous and maybe I was just overweight–oh well!

I never tried to hide it. I’m proud of my body for building a city for one occupant. Sure, at 20 weeks some folks probably thought I got a little chunky, but I knew the truth. I say embrace the belly.

Well, my philosophy is that ‘hiding’ a bump isn’t so much about looking thinner–if anything, people are more inclined to think you’ve just gained weight if your clothes are generally baggier and bigger. I say flaunt the bump… I’m more inclined to think someone is pregnant if they’re flaunting a stomach pooch.

I’m only 15 weeks but already have a prominent bump! To those who don’t know me and my small frame, they would assume I have gained some extra weight around my belly. I don’t care though… I’m excited to show it off and have been wearing more form fitting clothing for that reason. Even at 12 weeks there was a little something there, but I hadn’t quite announced yet so I was still wearing loose fitting clothing at that point.

@hspw714: I can still hide my bump and I am like 27 weeks pregnant. I have been showing it more. Not necessarily at work, I kind of conceal it. However, I still am in that in between stage where its kind of hard to know if I am pregnant or not and its a little embarassing LOL. But, I kind of like it.

I just wore my normal clothes until I couldn’t anymore. I carried fairly small, so a lot if people probably just thought I was fat.

I’m not pregnant but I feel like I’d show it! To me, pregnancy belly looks very different than someone just gaining weight even if you carry small! It looks….harder? I don’t know how to explain it.

This is at like 16 weeks maybe? I can’t remember now but obviously a bump so I just wear whatever. I’ve been in maternity clothes for about 4 weeks now…
I’m very obviously pregnant so I show it off. It’s winter so being shown less than if it was summer time. When I was in between looking fat and pregnant I hid I my teeny bump more. I’m very thin though so it was obvious pretty early on.
