How many of you showed your parents your ceremony before the day?
I’m debating this right now. We are having a secular ceremony, and my mom just can’t grasp how you can have a wedding ceremony without mentioning god! (she’s very traditional and only knows the old ways) So i want to show her what i have so far.

Haha, when I officiated my sister’s wedding I didn’t show a SOUL what I had written (even the bride and groom didn’t know what my speech would be), and then when my BIL officiated our wedding, he was also top secret about it! It was awesome though — certain things are just better as a surprise! (as long as the surprise isn’t that the ceremony is 45 minutes long)
So, I wouldn’t show it to them. Just tell them IT’S A SURPRISE!

Hah I was in the same boat you were. We had a non-religious ceremony and my mom spent hours and hours whining about how she didn’t think there could possibly be a ceremony without a mention of god, what could we fill 30 minutes with if there wasn’t prayer, and how she thought we would embarass her in front of everyone blah blah blah blah blah. I finally just showed it to her about a month before to get her to shut up about it. :p It worked! My mom and the officiant were the only ones that read it before the day.

Well i don’t want to show her at all really, but i though about showing her my rough draft draft so she kinda has an idea…. and then telling her it’s like that but will be different the day of.
