So, my cat is weird.  Don't get me wrong, I love her to death.  But she does a few things that are a little....odd!

Probably the weirdest thing she does is...well, she loves to burrow under the covers on our bed.  But not at night, or during any time other than when we are making the bed/changing the sheets.  Like, she can be in a totally different room of of the house, (or even downstairs), and if she realizes we're changing the sheets, (I guess she must hear us pulling the sheets around or something?) she will come RACING into the room, leap onto the bed, and start crawling around under the covers.  If we let her, she'll just lay under there for a while before eventually making her way out of them, (it makes it very hard to make the bed if she gets on it while we're trying to put on the fitted sheet!).  She sleeps with us at night, and unless I put the covers on top of her, she doesn't get under the covers.  We don't usually make our bed in the morning, (on account of us being lazy!), and if she sleeps on the bed when we're not in it, (made or not), she won't burrow under the covers.  It is ONLY when we are changing the sheets or making the bed.

    Here's photographic evidence!

She makes us laugh every time she does it, even when she is making it really hard to put sheets on, (we have to shut her out of the room sometimes, because she will just keep jumping up on the bed if we put her on the floor).

I know I'm not the only person with a weird pet!  What does your pet do that's a little kooky?

My childhood cat used to the same thing. He loved it when we actually finished making the bed over him, too (loosely, of course). He'd roll around and race around the bed for, like, 10 seconds before we let him out and then he went about his day like nothing happened. Like clockwork. Every. single. time.

The strangest thing my dog does is that he is addicted to playing fetch. He seriously will not quit for anything!

Our cat Smoo is also quite odd, at Christmas time Mr. 99 decks the halls to a ridiculous extreme which includes but is not limited to a train that runs through the house, wreaths, Christmas trees AND the Disney Christmas Village.

It is within the confines of this tranquil yet festive town that resides upon our buffet, a horrible cat beast torments the residents nightly in a bid to kinap Tiny Tim and hide him somewhere in the house....this has been going on for five years.  We go to bed, she snatches Tiny Tim, we wake up and find him....it makes me glad we don't have a nativity, I'd feel really awkward if she stole baby Jesus and hid him under the dragon palm.

We have two dogs. One does the typical tail chasing which is funny but she gets so wrapped up in the game she forgets her foot is a part of her too and attacks her foot. She will stand so still trying to sneak up on her tail or foot than plunge at it attacking it with all her force. Such a silly dog

Our other dog dances. She likes to stand on her back two feel and will get excited and start kicking her feet while she's on her back two feet and it looks like she's dancing. Cracks us up.

My cat always hears us changing the litter, races to the room we keep the litter in, sits like 2 feet away to watch us change the litter and then as soon as it's done and we step away, prances his cute little booty into it and pees.  It's like he saves up his peepee to mark his litter box!

I have one cat who likes to carry around her little catnip mouses and simutaneously meow very loudly. She won't stop until I use this high pitched annoying voice and go "Ohhhh you gots the mousey mouse! What a good girl! That mean old mousey mouse didn't stand a chance." I feel ridiculous the whole time, but she loves it.

@risingsun:  The strangest thing my dog does is that he is addicted to playing fetch. He seriously will not quit for anything!

We had a foster dog that was similar!  Sweet dog, and actually a senior girl, to boot.  It was her one bad habit: she would bark and bark and bark until you threw the ball, bring it back, drop it at your feet, and then start barking again until you threw the ball again, and repeat until you were tired of it and brought her inside.  I was working with her to try and teach her not to bark for the ball, and we were making some progress when she got adopted.  She found a great family, but it did ruin her chances with one family.  They were an older couple, and thought she had too much energy for them.  They didn't seem to understand that she was totally calm in the house and in the yard 99% of the time, it was just that she LOVED to play fetch.  If they had given her a few minutes of throwing the ball for her each day, she would have been perfectly content.

Of the four cats DH and I had between us, they would all do this.  Well, they wouldn't sit and watch, but within MINUTES of a litterbox being cleaned or changed, they would use it.

Our current cat doesn't do this, (guess she's weird enough in other ways?).  But that does remind me of another weird habit of hers!  First of all, she is a CRAZY litter-box digger.  We HAVE to have a covered box or she will fling cat litter everywhere!  EW!  LOL!  But the WEIRD part...after she uses the box, she will RUN out of it and the room it's in like the hounds of hell are after her!

@Miss Apricot:  One of my cats used to run around the room like a kid on Christmas right after he pooped.  It was like he was just so darn proud of himself. He'd run circles with his tail held high.  He doesn't really do it now that he's gotten old, but it was so funny to watch.

These are are funny stories!  I love my weird cat!

And my weird dog!  I just thought of something weird he does to share!  We call it the Buddy Dance.  I don't remember how we figured out he does this, but he will go between your legs, (he's tall, so when he tries to do it at top speed, watch out!), and stop with his back end sticking out in front of you.  You then have to scratch his back/rump (above his tail, not like, his butt "cheeks" or anything!) and he will march in place with his back feet and kind of kick them out.  We are trying not to let him do this without being invited to do so, but he's not 100% clear on that yet, (he did it to the electrictian the other day, THAT was embarrassing!).

@trueblue14:  LOVE those pics!  I swear, I just don't get the cat idea of comfort lol.

My cat is always weird because she purrs out of her mouth, and LOUDLY, and she also runs around the apartment like a crazy girl every morning and night.  But recently she has added a new quirk to her crazy routine.  When we are in the bedroom and stand up and walk towards the door, she will leap up and tap the doorframe with her front paw before bolting off.  She does this every morning now!  Little weirdo.

I have 3 - hence my user name.

Cat #1 likes to join you in the bathroom and use the litter box when you are on the toilet. We call her "our bathroom buddy". She also likes to go hide in the furnace room aka "the forbidden room") she scratches on the door to get in and scratches to get out. (The door is always kept shut as cat#3 will eat the syrofoam insulation in the room.) She will jump in the empty bathtub to chase her own tail when she has the 'crazies'.

Cat #2 likes to sleep under the bedcovers and gets very annoyed at cat #3 if he jumps on her to play when she's sleeping under the covers. She also likes to sleep, purr at drool on my chest at night. She usually waits until you've started watching a movie near the closest litter box to do "a poop and run" (they have 3 litter boxes).

Cat #3 will eat anything - cookies, nuts, etc. We cannot leave any kind of food out as he will eat it. He also clomps around the house like an elephant when he has the 'cat crazies' despite being a skinny, oriental build type cat. He has a deep rumbly loud purr despite having a high pitched whiny meow. He's been dubbed the "wussy pussy".

My adult daughter's kitty likes to get inside the duvet cover (we've joked it looks like the monsters in the movie Tremors as you can see him moving around.)

They all have individual 'purrsonalities'. :)

@Catgal3:  Oh my goodness, I am happy to know that our cat is not the only one who is a "bathroom buddy" LOL.  The first time it happened, I was in complete disbelief.  She pushed the door open, ran in the box, and turned around and looked in my eyes with pride as she pooed.  I was dying laughing.

Edit:  I just realized how appropriate these stories are for this thread title LOL!!!

LOL @ Bathroom Buddies.  Our cat loves to be in the bathroom with us!  The litterbox isn't in the bathroom, though, so we don't "go" at the same time.  She just likes to hang out on the rug while we're in the shower or using the toilet.  She occasionally likes to drink out of the sink's faucet, (and a time or two out of the bathtub while I was in it!  Ew to warm water!).

My dog (chihuahua x Pomeranian) plays with her dry food. She'll bring it in from her bowl, jump up on the couch and throw it on the floor. Repeats 3 or 4 times before she finally eats it and gets another piece. Or she'll drop it on the floor, charge at it, growl, and then eat it!

My cats like to come sit in the bathroom when I'm taking a bath. If I shut the door they sit outside the door. They sit outside the door when I am going to the bathroom too lol.

They like to rub against my legs when I walk around and one of these days I'm scared I'm going to fall over them and hurt them or myself walking in the dark.

They also sleep by my DH and I every night.... one by our heads and the other by our feet.

    I love my girls!

maugerette06 i have a silky x chihuahua, and he does the same thing with dry food. he also only likes to eat his food in the tv room, and will carry his food bowl out to there and eat.

The other thing he does that is weird is he snorts, like when he has a golly, and does it for a good 30 secoonds, its really weird. I have never seen a dog do this, but he also does this if you accidently knock him on the nose, or when hes eaten spicy food. (DH shares his food with him.. its annoying, but they are in love.. Tongue Out)

@mrsrangrang:  My mom's pomeranian does this! And my old pomeranian did this religiously. They go to their food dish. Get kibble singular. And then walk over to a carpeted spot (or any area that's an opposite texture- mine went for the doormat), to eat it

And the snort thing! And "bull charging," after they go to the bathroom. I'm not sure what else to calll it, but it's basically them burying their scent. (I assume at least, I doubt they're actually bull charging :P)

My boy huffs. For no reason, just huffs at you.

Also loves to sleep next to me but has to paw at my face until I let him under the doona. If I need to pee during the night he has to follow me to the toilet then as I wash my hands he rushes back to the bed.

the_future_mrs yep my little one does the whole foot scraping thing.. we call it burn outs.... cause he puts so much effort into it and gets the biggest cloud of dust for such a little dog... Smile oh and he has to sit at our feet when we are using the toliet.. he scratches at the door till we let him in.. so its better for our doors just to let him in.. he is spoilt... and if he needs to pee at night and we are asleep hewill just sit on our chest and stare really closely at our face.. usually DH first then if he doesnt wake then he will do it to me..

ETA, he hates us to watch him poo.. if we are outside and he needs to go he will hide. He just gives us a look if we catch him.. its weird.. like "dont effing look at me while i crap bi***es" but yeah still funny..

@trueblue14:  oh my word is your cat a character.

my first dog would stand in front of the vent of the heater to warm up in winter.  he would hear it click and run over and when it took too long to start he would cry.

my 2nd (lived with the first) thinks any fabric on the floor is hers, confuses it with her bed i guess.  She will sit/lay on it and try to get under it to wrap herself up and if she has a hard time she will stop and stare at you as if you are supposed to help her.

the 3rd dog (living with the 2nd) is just insane.  she runs nonstop. she has the ability to balance on her hind legs like a meerkat.  and she just stays like that, like shes a person.  she also likes to bark/chase the swiffer.

My one cat loves dashing out of the litter box in mid poop and races around the house.  We always find little nuggets around.  It's gross but funny.

she also hides around corners and when we come she swats our legs.

My other cat loves To stare.  She'll sit and stare at you without blinking for like 1/2 hour.  It's creepy.

she also knows when anything new enters the house and has to lay on it making it her new bed.

Both of them also like to push the door open when I'm in the washroom.  They just have to be in the bathroom with me.

I shared this on another thread recently but my dog loves socks. She collects them. you can't leave a sock on the floor or she will take it and hide it. She has a favorite hiding spot where majority of the socks end up but we find them all over the house. She will actually go into the hamper and dig for socks. I have a photo on our home computer of her sitting in\under a pile of laundry with a sock in her mouth. She's silly. She has a whole bin of toys but socks are like her favorite thing ever! Tongue Out

@trueblue14:  Well here is another of Miss Squeaky!

Her name is Miss Squeaky?  DH's cat was named Squeaky!  He picked out the name because when she was a kitten, her meows were more like squeaks.  She was a great little cat, and I am glad I got to know her before she passed!

DH's other cat, Perky, was super weird!  She would eat just about anything, including stuff that wasn't edible.  Pieces of plastic, candy wrappers...we really had to watch what we left laying around, and keep a close eye on her.  I guess the first Christmas DH's family had them, they ate tinsel, (which is potentially very dangerous, but we were between 10-12 years old at the time and didn't know each other existed).  It fortunately made it's way out the other end, but resulted in some very colorful poops, most of which were stuck because of the tinsel still being partially inside and had to be pulled out by dear old Dad.  Ew!
