My Mom would like to pay for a shuttle from our hotel to the reception and from the reception to the hotel. We want everyone at our wedding to be safe, and would like to provide shuttling for them, so we don’t need to worry about anyone drinking and driving.
The best priced service she could find and most affordable for her is to rent a school bus. Which I guess is semi-fitting after all I am a teacher.
As a guest how would you feel being shuttled by a school bus?

@MissParrot: I think that would be awesome! I’d love not having to worry about driving, and think it would be a fun and cute mode of transport post wedding!

@MissParrot: I think that is a very cute idea!

I’m not picly, so I would just try to race in first for a seat at the back 😛 Since you’re a teacher I think its cute, maybe you could play it up in that way.

haha I think it’s kind of cute being that you’re a teacher! I don’t think I’d mind I’d just be happy to have a ride. When you are out of town without a car, it’s really nice to have shuttle service from the venue to your hotel

That’s exactly what we did and I’m not a teacher 🙂
My goal in getting transportation from the hotel to the venue was to keep people safe and to keep them from getting lost/stuck in Atlanta traffic. I wasn’t about to shell out the big bucks for a coach bus with a bathroom when the venue was 10 minutes from the hotel. I didn’t hear any complaints from my guest, so I think it worked out.

@MissParrot: So the school bus is a great idea! However, if you are getting married in August and it’s hot in August where the wedding will be, I have to say it conjures memories of my youth being stuck in a hot bus where the windows hardly go down. If it’s a short ride, it’d be fine. If people are going to sweat and get swampy, consider a ride with air conditioning.
Do NOT step ahead of the white line while the bus is in motion, whatever you do!

I’ve been shuttled in a school bus at a wedding! I think it’s great and esp cute since you’re a teacher.

I been to weddings with school busses and they are VERY uncomfortable and hot! remember they are made for little kids-so most of your grown guests, dressed in their best are going to be uncomfortable and annoyed.

Note the venue is only about 20-30 minutes from the hotel, and yes but it will also be ending fairly late, and typically NH August weather…it cools down quite a bit at night.

I think it’s a great idea! My parents suggested it for me since they took one to a reception before. Out of curiosity, what are you being quoted? My wedding is also in August and the trip is about 25 minutes as well. Thanks!

It’s free transportation, so I don’t understand why anyone would complain. They are dicks if they do. We are also doing a school bus shuttle because it’s cheaper.

Aside from no AC, which might not be a problem it sounds like, I’d be worried about liability. Since there aren’t any seatbelts, what happens if (God forbid) the bus is in an accident?

- Wedding: September 2008 - A tiny town just outside of Glacier National Park
We used schoolbuses in Montana and loved them. However, most guests still chose to use their cars.
One thing to note is that there is VERY LITTLE leg room in most schoolbuses as they’re designed with children’s legs in mind. Some adults will find the seats very cramped.
