not a wedding dress, just an evening gown for evening functions. Most of us aren’t same size top and bottom and i tried on a dress that fits lovely on my bottom half but side zip is a bit of a squeeze when the zip gets nearer to the bust area (32E boobs).
i managed to do it up in the changing room but when i tried it on with my strapless bra (bra needs to be strapless) the thing would not zip all the way up!
I spoke to my dry cleaner who said there’s nothing that can be done to adjust the zip (he did not see the dress) and he said to just get the next size up which i know won’t sit as nice at the current dress which is fine apart from the booby area 🙁
has anyone else had this problem and had some form of alteration to rectify it?

Have you tried taking pamprin? My friend got married last summer and she swears on taking pamprin 2 days before the wedding. It sheds water weight (its just PMS medicine SO its not like its some weight loss pill with bad side affects) so it reduces bloating.. She said she put her dress on 2 days before the wedding and it wouldnt zip so she took pamprin and it was perfect the day of her wedding… Im taking it for my wedding next week!

@RachelM: i don’t think it’s a water retention problem just my slightly too large boobs?
good luck with your wedding!

Have you tried using the stick on bras cups? I have had this problems and usually by using those this or using a different bra fixed the problem, I am not so busty so I am not sure if this would work well for you, but it is a thought.

i think it’s the actual zip that needs altering but apparantly this cannot be done which i find hard to believe when most things can be altered?

Get your boobs out of the dress, zip the dress up and then shove the ladies back in with your strapless on. Then, to make sure they look pretty, lean forward, shake yourself a little bit and adjust the dress. You won’t feel super-elegant doing these little moves, but as a 36H this has been the technique I have used a few times to get me into pretty dresses.
Edit: You say when you try it on with the strapless bra it doesn’t close. WHat about adding the straps to the bra until you get the dress on, and then releasing those ladies once you’re all zipped in?

@Cariad: problem solved! There’s nothing that can be done with the zip in terms of alterations so i exchanged it for the next size up :/
