I think you could pull off the braid, IF it looked like a braid, to me it looks like a twist, but if that is the look you are going for that is fine too. Try to make it a little tighter, but from the front view it does not look like a braid from the side it does. also, braid it towards the end of the rubberband.

I am not a makeup artist or a cosmetologist, so my opinions do not mean much, but could you find a more neutral lipstick. I have full lips and I never wear red, it makes my lips look like Ronald McDonald. Maybe even a pink will work well with you, but start with the neutral shades first.

Siniria:  If you can hide the hair tie, yes. I don’t like the look of a hair tie for formal (or just ‘dressy’, even). Other than that I think it’s super cute! I’m doing my own hair, as well. Just using hot rollers – nice and easy 🙂

You should use a clear hair elastic, and maybe add a flower or some kind of fancy hair piece to it to make it pop a little more 🙂

Try a katniss braid. I love how they look and your hair is a perfect length! I do them for work all the time.

I think it looks way too loose and casual for a wedding.

I would use a clear or prettier hair band and curl the ends, but I think the style looks fine on you. I would worry about that loose braid staying in place all night though.

I think it looks great, and definitely not something I could do on my own hair! Next time I would try not braiding it all the way down, using an elastic and then curling the ends. I would also pull some strands of hair out on at least the side without the braid and curling that as well. I think that along with some accessories will really dress the look up.

Siniria:  I love the red lips! I think that’s a very flattering color on you and looks really pretty, especially with the downplayed eye makeup. It looks fresh and unexpected to me because your eyes are so beautiful it seems like the “easy” or expected thing would be to go dramatic there and use a more muted lip color. So the bold lip and neutral eye makes me say “WOW!”

Oh yeah, and the braid is cute. Practice a few times, and like PPs said, try a tiny clear elastic like the ones they make for braces. Also I’m pro-tiara. Seems like a lot of ladies around here aren’t so much, but I say if you like it, don’t let yourself get talked out of it.

I don’t think it looks bad on you, but I think it’s going to fall out as you move (it’s already starting to in the picture) and you’re going to end up with half your hair in the braid and half your hair just hanging loose on the other side of your head.

I think you can do the side braid but make it a little more sophisticated and polished.  The way it is now looks flat and casual.  To make it more glamourous I would tease the crown to give you a little more height.  I would also curl the hair into loose curls so when you pull the hair lightly to one side it still looks polished and styled.  I then would do a loose braid secure with elastic and then using your own hair wrap it around the elastic and secure.  Now you no longer can see the elastic.  The ends will already have a prettier look because of your hair already being curled but you can freshen the ends with a larger curling iron.

For or an idea of what I meant by loose curls, this picture shows loose waves going into her braid, it looks much more glamourous and wedding appropriate.

I think your hair may be too short to pull off this style….  you practically need to be Rapunzel to make it look any good.
