So my husband and I are having chicken pot pie for dinner (just those ones you buy frozen and bake in the oven) since I've been craving it lately.  He just asked me what we're having with it.  Growing up, we always considered it a meal in itself but he said he always had at least mashed potatoes with it if not more.  Do you eat chicken pot pie by itself or do you add sides?

I voted sides - I always eat them by themselves when it's just me.  However, growing up my mom always had a side with chicken pot pie.  She always had rolls or other bread at the table, and if the pot pie or main dish had veggies in it, she did some kind of fruit.  She did sides at every meal though Laughing

Come to think of it, that's probably where my bread and carb obession comes from!

I feel like chicken pot pie is like spaghetti. Its one of those dishes you just eat by itself :D

Now I want chicken pot pie :/

FI and I just had chicken pot pie last night. Growing up, if Mom made chicken pot pie, shepherds pie, beef pot pie, etc, we never ate it with sides. It's a meal in itself!

I'm not a fan of them BUT my dad used to eat them fairly regularly growing up and would have bread and butter wtih them.

I've always kind of seen those as a full meal by themselves.  No sides!

No sides with casseroles or pies, but I would make a salad!

No sides, it has bread, meat & veggie in it already.. seems pretty well rounded to me!

I've always thought of it as a meal by itself, so no sides needed!
