I am not defending them. I really don't care for them at all, but they may have a different policy for online sales than instore sales. Did your receipt say anything about returns? Or do they have anything posted in the store?
nothing is posted in the store and my receipt didn't have anything. All I have is the fact that the consultant told me they accept returns for store credit and the 3 people who were with me who remember her saying that. So I mean I guess it doesn't matter since I didn't have it in writing but still.. I just think it should be consistent.
((HUGS)) sorry you had a bad experience there. We are probably going this weekend, so I can show my mom the silhouette of the dress that I chose.
I too have had such horrible experiences there. My initial visit was great and the woman was really nice. But the second time I went in was to buy my moms dress for the wedding and granted they were busy but we were scheduled to be there and NOBODY helped us. We were told just to go through the racks and someone would find us...which they never did. So i went and finally asked to be taken into a room. My mom tried on six or seven dresses. We found the one she loved and then searched the store for someone to help. When we told someone we wanted to purchase this dress in a different size she looked it up and without even a twitch of the face she said sorry that's been discontinued...took the dress back to the rack and walked away. I will not be going to back to david's bridal for everything. Also I was told that all sales were final and they made me sign a slip when I bought some hair accessories as well. It's just bad business. I would reccomend staying away from there at all costs. Sorry your experience was so bad. Good luck
If it wasn't in writing they should not have questioned you returning/exchanging. If you go there again, you might want to print out their policy that is on the website for them.
That sucks!! Well... i have been to the davids bridal by my house many many times. I have tried on like every dress in the store ,and i did have bad experiences with them as well. Sometimes they would be rude and sometimes the manager would tell the consultant to hurry in front of me. Different things like that. But ya luckily this davids bridal isnt that bad. But a few weeks ago i went to a differnt BD location and had a terrible experience where the girls lied to me about having a dress there because i wasnt planning to purchase the dress. They were beyond rude. I got mad so i called the BD by my house which had the reginal manager there. I explained to her what happened and she apologies. She was very nice and helpful. Also, there is always a way around their "policies" for example, their lay away policy is that your dress can only be on layaway for 2 months. Well i talked to the regional manager, and she let me do 3 months.
Anyway, i recommend you talk to someone above that manager. i kinda know how the retail business works and most of the time there is a way around things. Especially if it says that online. I mean yea maybe the policies are different online than in store. But i dont see why they wont exchange the item if you haven't even worn it. And you are only trying to exchange not return. So they aren't loosing money out of it. You should also try a different manager at a different store. Just call the other store in your area and ask them for their exchange policy. I would definitely complain to the manager about what the other employee said to you, because it isn't your employee it was theirs and she gave you false information.
Bring out your inner bridezilla :)
And i hope it all works out.
I'm always on the other side of the fence with this issue, I love Davids Bridal. My store is just awesome.
But in regards to your question, My DB said it can only be exchanged for like merchandise because the system wouldn't let them. So you should be able to return the tiara for a veil, but not for shoes or slip. I would try calling back.
thanks everyone! @WDWbride that's awesome that you have a good one near you. as far as bridal salons go you CAN'T beat the prices they have. Also, I totally understand that not everyone is going to have a great expirence with a huge chain like this I just seem to hear more negative than positive and for a company with that much money you'd think they could get their issues worked out. I have heard a lot of consistent stories about lying and rudeness. I'm still a DB fan and I do plan on maybe making some online purchases in the future of maybe little things, but I am 100% NOT going to do my 4 BMs dresses through them.
@belle....sorry that happened to you!
I hope it works out though :) and good luck with your bridal party dress search...don't worry, tones of other (not too expensive) options out there :)

I really love a lot of the products davids has to offer. It is where I got my dress and veil but I just don't understand the way they conduct business! My original day there when I tried on dresses was ok aside from employees bickering in front of us and different unprofessional little things but nothing that REALLY got to me. It really got to me when I only bought a 200 dollar tiara because the girl told me I could exchange it for store credit if it was in perfect condition with the tags (I haven't taken it out of the hard plastic case they put it in). Well, I changed my mind, wanted to wait on getting a tiara until later and put the 200 towards a veil. So tonight I went in and the manager told me that all sales are final. I politely explained that I was told I could exchange it and she did exchange it but my issue is why would the other girl tell me I could exchange it if I couldn't? The manager said all sales are always final on everything. Oh, and this is what the website says.

so what's the deal with getting a different story from the store manager?
