I’m doing a mat too… I hadn’t even thought of doing a sign until just now. I would also like to hear some suggestions. My fiance’s name is Matt… I wonder if that would be too corny to through that in there somewhere.

I couldn’t find any pictures, but I was at a wedding last summer that did this an what they did was had the mat & frame on a table with a smaller frame with instructions next to it -and a few marker pens were velcrowed to this frame.

It said something really simple like “Please sign this photo mat so we have great memories of our day”

I posted a thread last week looking for the same thing and got no helpful responses.  Ughhhh.

I am not doing the frame, but I am also doing a nontraditional guest book. We are going to have a small frame near it with instructions, as well as have my parents/sister do it before the wedding. Maybe have your immediate family sign the mat before the wedding, to give people an idea of what you want 🙂

I’m drawing a blank to think of something cute that rhymes…

We did a mat & set it up on an easel in front of the gift table. We also had the DJ make an announcement to remind guests to sign it.  It worked.

I think you are overthinking this. If you ask guests to sign their names they will figure out that the signature belongs on the mat. You can always ask the bridal party or close family to sign ahead of time if you are concerned that your  guests won’t be able to figure it out on their own.

We are also doing an alternative guestbook, although we are doing a thumbprint tree. We are just printing out a sign on cream paper that says: “Leaf your thumbprint and sign your name!” and putting it in a pretty 8×10 frame next to the guestbook station. We are also having one of my cousins stand next to it for the first thirty minutes or so in order to instruct people as to how to do it. I think people will easily figure yours out if you just put a simple sign up like we are doing.
