I’ve heard of people making a “blushing bride” and a “golden groom”. not sure what is in them, but you could probably google it!

I would love to pick a couple of classics – manhattans/martinis – but we decided to do beer/wine only. :

Manhattan:

2 oz blended whiskey
1/2 oz sweet vermouth
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1 dash bitters
Swirl with ice to chill, pour into a cocktail glass, and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

I’ve been bartending for the past 2 years. I’ve thrown together some drinks before that lots of my customers love. This is my signature, “hey Denise, make that one drink” drink:

  • 2 part vodka
  • 1 part blue raspberry schnapps
  • 1/2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz orange juice

The new cocktail trend where I live is to add herbs and spices.  Add them to a basic fruit + liquor mixture and it becomes a whole new experience, really.

My favorite right now is a mango jalapeno martini- vodka and mango nectar with fresh jalapeno juice- simple but fun!  I’ve also done it with strawberry/watermelon juices.  Fresh juice, though- I can’t vouch for canned.

The flavors are familiar and fresh, and the colors are gorgeous.

Basil and cucumber are other favorite additions to transform cocktails . . .

Hope some of my rant helps!
