I’ve been busily shopping for dresses, and I’m torn between two silhouettes… I really like fit-and-flare as well as slim a-lines. I found one dress I love that is a lace fit and flare by Kenneth Winston that would look beautiful with my mother’s veil, as well as another a-line organza dress by Paloma Blanca that is beautiful (but would require a different veil). Both made my heart skip a little beat, but I think I prefer the lace Kenneth Winston; unfortunately, my mother told me she preferred the Paloma Blanca, so now I’m confused. Another issue with the Paloma Blanca is that it is really hard to find in my city… I’d have to drive a good distance to get it. There is also a ~$1000 price difference (Paloma > Kenneth Winston) but both are feasible.
Lace Kenneth Winston:
Me in the kenneth winston (not the best of photos and the sample was a few sizes too large) and my mother’s veil… I’ll be removing the blusher:
Organza Paloma Blanca:
I’ll try to add a pic of me in the Paloma Blanca later.

Okay, me in the Paloma Blanca… You’ll notice its an older version of the dress in the above picture… I think a season behind.

SweetyBee: Geez… What a tough decision. No wonder you came to the Bee for some help! Which dress do you feel most comfortable in and would like to look back on for your wedding day? Where will your ceremony and reception be held? Maybe answering some questions and weighing the pros and cons will help you decide. Both dresses are marvelous. Really… Really pretty. If I had to choose, I’d go with #2.

I’ve always wanted to wear my mom’s veil. (Although she doesn’t care at all). I personally think that the first dress looks like it was MADE for that veil. Plus, you are stunning in it! I prefer it. And if you prefer it too, I think you should get it! It is your dress and your mom will end up loving it the day of the wedding no matter what dress you get, I’m sure.

I think the lace one looks much more flattering. I like the shape of it, and it makes your waist look teeny tiny.

I love the Paloma Blanca. I feel like I’ve seen that lace dress so many times but that other dress is beautiful.

Kenneth Winston hands down! It will be timeless. The Paloma looks like it will appear dated down the road…

SweetyBee: kenneth hands down

Edit: sorry, I misread and got the versions mixed up! I’ve edited my post to fix it.
Woah, I was vastly in favor of the second dress until you posted the picture of the older version. The bodice on the newer iteration is way nicer; on the older one, when combined with the asymmetrical tiers, it looks like an half-finished dress mockup.
Do you know which season’s style you would be able to purchase? I prefer the lace dress over the version you tried, but the newer version over the lace.

Definitely the second dress the first one is just so boring! The second one looks really good on you.

SweetyBee: Hands down, Kenneth!
The lace is perfect with your veil and it flatters your shape. I think it’s got a more timeless, classical feel.

Definitely the Kenneth Winston, looks better on your figure, and I think it goes so well with the veil, and a more timeless style!

Good advice all around, ladies, thank you. I’ve always been a little more on the traditional side, and always pictured myself in lace, so I was surprised I liked the Paloma at all. I know the venue plays a big role in selecting a dress, so I’ll share a little about our wedding: we are getting married in the dining room of a small historic hotel, cocktail hour in the private bar and then back up to the flipped dining room for the reception. Photographs and first look will be in the gardens across the street. The dining room is neutral in color with an old European style and lots of mirrors and a big chandelier. We are expecting between 100 and 120 guests. Additional thoughts, ladies?

SweetyBee: In the voting, it looks like I’m in the minority. I really love the Paloma Blanca dress. The organza is so interesting and architectural. I’ve seen that lace dress before, but this organza dress is really memorable.
